Hi, my loves!
I hope you are all having a cozy weekend. Due to life circumstances I am feeling very motivated this year to make a change in my life. When I say make a change, I don’t mean just talk about changing and then at the end of the year have nothing done. I truly want to make adjustments in my daily lifestyle that will benefit me throughout the rest of my life.
I have learned that I am an extremist when it comes to my goals. I set lofty goals and make huge strides in progress and then burn out and neglect the goal until I repeat the cycle. This year, I am completely reworking my approach and am going to be doing daily goals that will end up building the base for those larger goals. This method will allow me to be mindful as well as not give up so easily from exhaustion and burnout.
January can often be a month of pressure but I want it to be a month of structure. I have a planner which I will be using to keep track of my intentions and a few notebooks where I can expand my ideas but I thought I’d give you guys an idea of what my intentions are so it may inspire you to set some for yourself.
This month’s theme is Routine. I want to develop consistency with my daily schedule so that I know what to expect and not be flustered throughout the day when I haven’t accomplished what I want to.
That being said, my intentions are as follows:
- Maintain a simplistic morning and night routine
- Use block scheduling to manage time
- Follow through with appointments and no cancellations due to anxiety
- Keep a posting schedule for blog
These are my monthly intentions, and they will be broken down daily into daily goals. I prefer daily goals because it combines not only your monthly intentions but also what is relevant on that particular day.
An example of a daily goal for me to achieve this may be:
Attend all group therapy sessions.
When the daily goal is achieved on a consistent basis and you are able to affirm to yourself that you are capable of doing what you set out to do, you are not only building the baseline for your long term intentions but you are building confidence that you can continue this process until each action turns into a habit.
I already feel confident just by making time to map out my January intentions and not forcing myself to do anything above what I know I am capable of in a single month. There is no race, and if I fail one day I am going to keep going because I know that everything I am taking on is possible as long as I can be patient and put in the effort.
If you have intentions for this month, what are they? Leave them in the comments because I am eager to hear them!
