Early Fall Self Care Ideas

Hello, my loves!

I hope you are all enjoying the beginning of September. I have been able to go on a few walks without feeling like a raisin. I’d like to share with you some of my self care habits that you can implement into your routine to feel a little better during this changing time.

  1. Brew some coffee or tea in the morning. I love coffee and I love tea and they are a nice habit to get into when you want to take some time to relax and enjoy the aroma.. It is also a good time to set aside for meditation. Use this time to relax and unwind and observe your emotions and feelings. Try to assess what you need to do to make it a better start of you day.
  2. Stretch/Dance/Yoga/Walk. Honestly, it is so important to move your body and keep moving throughout the day. You can start with a little stretch or yoga in the morning and make sure you go for a walk or dance when you’re feeling a little too tense. Create your own special routine and you will be on your way to a healthier life.
  3. Take An Internet Break. We all love our phones and computers but it can often lead to an overwhelming amount of information coming at us. We need to set our phones down and just be as we are. Try to get into nature and observe its beauty. Watch the leaves change colors and fall. Observe the birds and the woodland animals that are all around us. if you don’t live by nature try going to a park. Overall, even if it is five minutes off your phone it is better than nothing.
  4. Drink Water And Wear Sunscreen. I know I say this a lot if you follow me on twitter or Instagram but it is true. You need to keep wearing sunscreen regardless of the weather changing. We may have less direct sunlight but the truth is it is always there and always able to damage our skin. Water is also so helpful for our skin as well as all of our body organs. We need to stay hydrated. If you don’t like regular water then put some fruit and herbs in it. If you don’t like that then put some flavor drops in it. It doesn’t matter, get hydrated.
  5. Take Time For Yourself. You are a human bein and need time to recuperate after long days or even short days. Try to find time to relax and do something you enjoy. Find a passion project and stick with it. I personally love to watch Youtube videos and learn about new things. I also like to write in my free time and am doing a book for aromatherapy.

Overall, I hope you find something that makes you happy during this early fall season.

Much Love,

Julie

Essential Oils: The Beginning

Hello, my loves

I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season. Today I’m going to be talking about something I have a great passion for and that is essential oils. I’m going to go over the bare minimum with you so you have a general idea what they are about and what you can do with them once you have some in your possession.

Essential oils are more than just smelling good. They have a property that effects your brain in positive ways. Depending on which oil you choose, it will affect you in different ways. Some of the basic essential oils you can get are orange, lemon, lavender, frankincense, or even peppermint.

There are a few things you need to look at when you’re using essential oils. First of all, are they 100% therapeutic grade? This means they are actually 100% of the plant material used and no synthetic fillers. You also want to check if they need a carrier oil. Some essential oils can be used on their own and some need a carrier oil or a base oil (sweet almond oil, sesame oil, etc) that they are added to so you can apply them on your skin.

Get a diffuser. You really are going to want to use these essential oils with a diffuser. A diffuser runs oils and water through a steaming process which then lets the smell of your oils penetrate a room. It is perfect for anyone beginning with essential oils to purchase a diffuser. They come in all shapes and sizes and you should select one depending on the size of your room.

Once you’ve determined those things, you can start using your oils. There are various properties of essential oils. I personally started with the basics. I like lemon because it is a vibrant citrus smell which makes everything feel sunny. Lemon can brighten up a cloudy day and it smells great in a diffuser. Lemon oil also takes the sticky off stickers and is a great oil to add to a cleaning solution.

Lavender oil is great for rest and relaxation. It promotes calming and restful sleep. It also is great for skin and hair. Cedarwood is wonderful for grounding and promoting a meditative state. There are many, many, oils you can use for various things, do your research!

All I know is that essential oils have helped me so much in the past when it comes to provoking certain moods or energies that I want to embody. You cannot expect them to cure depression or make your life miraculously better but they can help in a small way if you’re struggling.

I hope this helped even a little bit. Perhaps you can tell me your favorite essential oil in the comments!

How To Accomplish Your Goals

Hello, my loves!

It’s getting closer and closer to the end of the year which is a time a lot of us make goals for the new year. There’s still some time left in this year though, and still time to make goals and accomplishments. I’m going to be sharing some tips and tricks on how to stay organized as well as set goals and make your dreams come true.

  1. Keep a physical plan. I know it is all about digital planning these days but the act of writing out goals is so important. You can brain storm easily and plan your days in a planner. Pick a planner that you enjoy looking at, so you can keep it active. Write down every day what you want to accomplish that day and keep to it.
  2. Make a daily to-do list.  Sometimes we make long, drawn out to-do lists but they usually never get done. Try a list of five items, and star three most important to-dos. This will allow you to see what a priority is and what isn’t. If you even get one done it will make you feel good about the rest of your list.
  3. Stay organized and find a work space. You should try to tidy up your space every evening so that you don’t have to worry about cleaning in the morning and you can get started on your goals. Find an area in your home to focus on work. This space will put all distractions in the background and you can work happily in a quiet area.
  4. Ask yourself why. Goals and to-dos don’t get done unless you are motivated. Find a source of motivation to get your work done. Why are you working towards this goal? Why are you putting in the work? If you have very little reason to get work done, you won’t do it. So ask yourself some questions. Get a journal. Find your passion and work for it.
  5. Do the work. In the end, it doesn’t matter how many goals and aspirations you have if you don’t work on them. Set a time every day to work on your priorities. Keep a budget list. Find similarly minded people online or in person. Enjoy your work. If you don’t enjoy yourself, you won’t be motivated to work on your projects. Find something fun to do on your breaks like walk your dog, dance, or make a special warm and cozy drink!

Okay, my loves!  I will be back on Wednesday with another blog post. In the meantime, leave a comment if you have any other ideas for keeping motivated.

Julie

How To Stay Hydrated

Hello, my loves!

Today I was thinking about talking about how to stay hydrated. There are a lot of people who don’t like the taste of water but there are ways around that! I{‘m going to give you some tips for drinking enough water during the day.

  1. Drink water right when you wake up. Your body is dehydrated of fluids when you wake up in the morning and this is a great time to replenish.
  2. Get a cute water bottle. This will inspire you to drink more water. We all love a good aesthetic water bottle. Carry this around with you and keep drinking!
  3. Drink infused water. If you don’t like the taste of water, you can try to infuse your favorite fruits and herbs into your water. This will make you want to drink more water during the day and it will also give you the antioxidants of the water.
  4. Measure your water intake. You can do this through an app on your phone or by purchasing a bottle online that marks how much water you want to drink.
  5. Put packets of drink flavoring in your water. I know some people won’t even drink infused water. There are drink flavoring packets that you can put in your water. These do have artificial f sugar in them so don’t drink them too much but if you’re desperate to get water intake, they are worth a try.
  6. Try to push yourself and set goals. If drinking water is a problem for you. Try to set a goal each week to drink more water. If you drink enough of your water goal, then reward yourself with a treat.

I hope this inspired you to get out and drink more water. If you have any other ideas, please leave them in the comments.

Staying Productive During Quarantine

So today I’m going to talk about how you can stay busy during the quarantine days. These are uncertain times right now and it is hard to stay happy and productive right now, but it is possible. I currently only leave the house to get groceries or go to my immediate family’s house. When I’m at home I try to stay busy with fun activities that leave me happy and nourished. I’m leaving just a few but there are tons of things you can do to stay occupied.

  1. I think this is the most important activity because not only do you get out of the house, but you get exercise and fresh air. You don’t have to walk miles, but just around the block is perfect. I usually go for 3-4 small walks a day. It has also help with weight loss.
  2. We all need to practice the art of writing. It helps release tension and Is using creative energy to express yourself. Try to write something new or simply journal. I personally prefer poetry, but you can always write short stories, letters, etc.
  3. Honestly, it may not be for everyone, but it can be! Put your favorite tunes on and start moving your body! That’s all it takes. It’s also good for your body and dancing has helped me gain confidence in myself. It can help you too!
  4. You can be entertained for hours from coloring. Pick up a coloring book and work on a few pages. Put some music on in the background and grab a snack and you’re all set! It helps the brain focus and you can really come up with some beautiful pieces to hang up as decorations on your wall.
  5. Now is the time to clean up your house. You have all the time in the world so there are no excuses. Put your favorite television show or music on, grab some cleaning supplies and make sure your essential oil diffuser is on and go at it! Deep clean the areas you haven’t done for a while and scrub everything that needs it.

These are just a few tips to stay busy and productive during this trying time. If you have any others, please leave them in the comments!
