Soap And Glory Melty Talented Dry Skin Balm; Review

Hello, my loves!

Image result for melty talented dry skin balm

I hope your weekend is going well so far. I have had one of the best weeks I have had in a long time! Anyways, I thought today I could bring you another quick review. It is on the Soap And Glory Melty Talented Dry Skin Balm.

I bought this balm a few weeks ago and I have really been enjoying it ever since. The Melty Talented is a pink colored balm, which has a solid consistency at room temperature but once warmed up against fingertips, it turns into a soothing oil. It claims it is for dry lips, hair tips, elbows, knees, and cuticles.

I  have mostly used it on my knees and elbows and I can say it is a very fast acting oil for dry skin. I have chronically dry skin when seasons change and this has prevented me from having to layer on thick creams which takes a lot more time to rub in usually. With this balm it rubs in instantly and there isn’t even too much of a greasy feel to it either. The smell is amazing and is a warm, vanilla cupcake scent. This product retails for $6 USD for 1 o.z. (a little goes a long way) and can be found at Walgreens or on Soap and Glory’s website.

I can recommend this product to anyone who wants soft, great smelling skin, at a fair price. I love Soap and Glory, and often feel the brand is not always given recognition even when their products are stellar!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my review and if you have any Soap and Glory products you can recommend I would absolutely love to hear about them! So, leave them in the comments!

Until Next Time,

Julie

Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo Review

Hi, my loves. I wanted to do a quick review of the Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo.

img_2314

The Aveda Shampure is a dry shampoo which is meant to instantly refresh hair with a clam aroma. It comes in a powder form, and you are supposed to dispense the product directly onto the roots of the hair and then massage gently until the powder is dissolved. The packaging is very unique. You simply maneuver the top mechanism until the dispenser is showing and then squeeze the container lightly and it will allow just enough product to come out so you won’t be wasting product. It also keeps the powder fresh and free from any contamination.

The cost fo the Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo retails for $31 USD and you are receiving 2 oz of product.

I honestly think this is one of the nicest dry shampoos I have tried and I have tried many. The smell alone would make me purchase this again, but the product itself is a miracle for second and third-day hair. This dry shampoo will make any oil in your hair disappear and you will be left with wonderful smelling hair. It does not leave a chalky or white residue either. In my opinion, this product even leaves extra volume in your hair.

For reference, I have thick, curly, voluminous hair and it is not difficult to work with this product even with having tons of hair which is great! I think people who have fine hair will enjoy this product as well because it is a natural based product and does not have any extra additives that will weigh their hair down.

If you are looking for a dry shampoo that does as it says, I would look into getting the Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo!

I hope you are all having a lovely Wednesday!

Safe Sun: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen Review

Hello, my loves!

img_8502

The weather is warming up and we all want sun protection anyways on an everyday basis, so I thought I’d review the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen.

I’ve been using this product for about four weeks now, and it has completely changed the way I look at facial sunscreens. Some of you may have used some of the hydro boost products from Neutrogena in the past, like their gel moisturizer which is particularly popular.

This sunscreen is on the similar texture as their gel moisturizer. It is a thin consistency formula with major hydrating properties.  I like the fact that you can apply this sunscreen and it will easily absorb into your skin instead of sitting there wondering when it ever will.

As for the actual protection, it comes in SPF 30 and SPF 50, and it provides UVA/UVB protection. It comes with Helioplex which is a formula made with avobenzone and oxybenzone which apparently are able to absorb the sun rays instead of your skin doing so. This protective product is also water resistant which means you can sweat or swim and it will still keep the same amount of protection!

The smell is also a factor I hear many people complaining about with regular sunscreen. This does not smell like regular sunscreen whatsoever, but rather has a softer floral scent. The scent does not linger and to me is not overpowering.

Wearing sunscreen under makeup is something I do every day, so it is important for me to not look extra greasy or too matte and this does neither. It is simply like applying a light gel moisturizer on your face and that’s it! You can barely tell you’re wearing it and it does not mess with the texture of your makeup, – if anything it adds a soft, radiant glow without the oil. This sunscreen also does not break me out! Whatsoever! And I have very sensitive skin when it comes to sunscreen.

Lastly, the price is unbelievable for the amount of product you are getting. You are paying $10 USD (bought at Target) for 3.0 fl oz. (88mL). I think it is well worth practicing safe sun for the price, especially with how nice of a product you are getting.

I am beyond impressed with this sunscreen and I’ve struggled for a long time to find one that doesn’t break me out, doesn’t cost a lot, is enough SPF, etc. I’m so glad I picked this up! You should definitely try this if you are looking for a non-detectable sunscreen. I wish it hadn’t taken them so long to come out with this formula, but it’s a good thing they did now.

I know I can sometimes rant and rave about many products on my blog but it is often because I want you to know the products I am loving as opposed to mediocre products. However, I will try to add in some beware before buys!

As always, I hope you enjoyed my Sunday review! I really love this time of the week. As always, let me know your opinion if you’ve tried this or if you have a sunscreen you love!

Until Next,

Julie

Kopari Sheer Oil Review

img_6416

Hello, everyone!

I went shopping at TJ Maxx a bit ago and I purchased the Kopari coconut sheer oil and I want to give a review of this product since I absolutely love everything and anything coconut!

The coconut sheer oil by Kopari is a coconut oil which was specifically produced to be used as a beauty oil. This product, in particular, is formulated with not only coconut but many other wonderful ingredients such as shea butter, coffee, melon, banana, the list goes on. The product retails for $44 USD for 1.7 FL OZ or 50 mL and can be found on Kopari’s website and is also available at Sephora. This product is cruelty-free and vegan.

The coconut sheer oil is solid at room temperature but can easily be liquefied by running the bottle under warm water. The packaging is very handy, as it comes with a dropper to help with not only sanitary concerns but also concerns that you may use too much product unnecessarily. I really enjoy the thought that was put into this packaging, and the bottle is made of a hard, milk glass that seems very high end.

The sheer oil smells amazing! This is a warm, vanilla-coconut scent which is not overpowering in the slightest. It is one of the nicest fragrances I’ve smelt in a skincare product to date. I also like that you do not need a lot of this oil for it to be effective!

I’ve been using the product nonstop for about a week and I can gather that this product does exactly what it says it will which is:

  1. Facial Oil that provides moisture and anti-aging properties. Reduces inflammation and can fight acne. My skin has been clearer than it has been for a while and I can even tell my acne scars are lightening up a bit and it’s only been a week!
  2. Makeup Primer. Yes, my skin feels so much softer and adapts to taking makeup a lot better when using this product.
  3. Fly-away hair tamer. Most coconut oils make my hair greasy within seconds of contact but this one has more smoothing properties than adding excess oil.
  4. Body oil for dry skin. This can help with stretch marks or dull or dry skin. I’m not sure about stretch marks but this sure has helped my parched skin glow.

I can see myself using for a long time. and repurchasing when I run out, as long as it continues to remain effective, which honestly, I think it will! If you like coconut oil from the grocery store, you are going to love this one because it is just so much better and is formulated with the best ingredients to bring out the best of your skin.

I am a Kopari affiliate and there is currently a 20% of sitewide sale going on, so if anyone is interested – simply click the picture above and you will be directed there. You can also get 10 % off your first purchase if you sign up for their e-mail subscription. Definitely, check out their website for more natural skincare options!

If you have any questions or have tried Kopari’s products let me know in the comments!

Makeup Inspiration: French Beauty

Hello, my loves! Welcome back to my blog!

ncaakdn

I have been obsessed with wearing less-is-more makeup lately. I adore makeup, I truly do. I love putting my artist side to work every morning and picking out different shades and colors. However, I also like letting my skin breathe and letting my skincare work, especially in the warmer weather.

French beauty is something I am particularly interested in, seeing as I am mostly of  French descent and also because it is more minimal. The French have a particular look which isn’t seen in every French woman in the same way but rather they each have their own individual style which is typically minimal, soft, yet bold provides a statement.

My favorite French look is the glowy skin with a red lip. There’s usually little eye makeup in this look at least what I have seen, but there’s usually at least a coat of mascara. My idol is Jeanne Damas, who is a French It girl who also owns her own clothing line. She personally seems to pick more plum colored lips or a deeper red.

I thought I’d list a few of my favorite beauty products that I use to achieve the  French girl look.

L’oreal True-Match Foundation –  I like this product because it can be used as a more sheer product or a full coverage one depending on how much you apply. It provides a glowy base and the shade selection is wonderful.

Bareminerals – Bareskin Concealer –  This concealer is perfect for a natural concealing effect. IT does not crease under the eye and can be blended in softly with your finger or a sponge. It is a full coverage concealer but does not feel thick or tacky.

Benefit Cosmetics – High Beam – This is a nice, subtly soft highlighter product that looks natural on the skin. This product is easily applied to the top of the cheekbones for a hint of sheen. Or a cheaper alternative is “Moonbeam” powder highlighter by E.L.F.

Honest Beauty – Cream Contour Palette – This is the smoothest, most buttery and easily blended contour palette I have used. It is stunning and perfect for a look where it doesn’t look muddy or heavy.

MAC  – Lipstick in venomous violet, diva, or viva glam 3.  I  personally have never used these ones but they are recommended by Jeanne herself! I personally like Revlon’s balm stain in “Crush”  or “Romantic” for a beautiful plum or berry pout.

You can, of course, use any products that you have but the idea is to keep it looking like it is your own complexion. The French often say you should play up your best features instead of trying to hide the ones you do not like. I strongly agree! Are there any makeup trends or styles you are following right now? Let me know in the comments!

Have a wonderful rest of your Monday and I will be back writing on Wednesday!

Julie

Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Pure Castile Soap Review

Hello, my loves! Happy Earth Day!

img_5089

Today is Earth Day and it is also review Sunday, so I thought it would be fitting to provide a review about an organic, vegan, and cruelty-free product that also uses recycled materials for the packaging.

Dr. Bronner’s is known for their liquid castile soap, which is a combination of various oils like organic coconut oil,  organic palm kernel oil, organic olive oil, organic hemp oil, organic jojoba oil, and essential oils, in combination with a minimal list of other ingredients.  Dr. Bronner’s is a company which also uses certified fair trade ingredients in their products.

The particular one I have been using is the lavender castile soap (retails for $3.99-$70.00 depending on quantity). I personally use this product as a body wash, as well as a shampoo and sometimes a facial wash. First of all, I really enjoy the subtle lavender scent that is not overpowering. The fragrance has a calming effect, especially when used before bed.

The key to this product is diluting it with water because it is easy to be overpowered by the oils or other components of the ingredients.

When I actually use the product, the results are wonderful. I use this as a clarifying shampoo because it makes my hair feel so clean. I typically will then go in with another shampoo to bring some moisture back because I do feel like this does make your hair a little dry on its own.

As a body wash, this does not really lather up like most. It provides a clean feeling, however, and leaves the skin feel soft. As a facial cleanser, this is a nice gentle one that does a nice job. I would personally use this in the morning to get any dirt off from sleep as opposed to a nightly cleanser where it needs to be more vigorous.

There are other ways you can use this product for, like washing dishes, doing laundry, washing your dog, or even shaving.

In my opinion, there is something to be said about a company that goes out of its way and makes it their mission to provide sustainable products that can be used in ways many traditional products cannot. I hope we can all do our part in the future to become more eco-friendly and less harmful to the environment. I know it is difficult but even making small steps like purchasing from companies such as Dr. Bronner’s it will help more than you know.

I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants a versatile soap that will be effective and leave you squeaky clean!

If you’ve tried any of Dr. Bronner’s products, let me know how you feel about them in the comments or if you have any other eco-friendly brands we should know about!

Love always,

Julie
