Stay Hydrated With Seasonally Infused Waters

No matter what the season, it is important to stay hydrated. While we often remember to drink plenty of water during the summer, it is equally as important to keep drinking enough of it during the colder months. Our bodies may not be in the heat of the sun, but we are being subjected to indoor heating and our bodies are adjusting to harsher, colder weather conditions. After even a short period of time this can cause our skin to look dehydrated and dull, and bodies can quickly become dehydrated.

Water, however, can be a bit plain. Do not worry, though! Infused water is here to save the day. Infused water is simply drinking the essence of fruits, vegetables, or herbs after is has been steeped in water for a period of time.

To infuse water, you simply add whatever ingredients you like to a pitcher of water and let sit in the refrigerator for several hours to let the fruit or herbs steep so that their benefits are infused in water. If you do not feel like waiting, there are also infusion tumblers which are available even at the dollar store! When it comes to measuring out how much to use, simply use your discretion and see what works for you. Part of the fun is creating new combinations!


For a crisp yet cozy combination of infused water, try adding apple slices with cinnamon sticks to your water. This will not only provide anti-oxidants from the apple, but it will also help you maintain your blood sugar levels (in case you have a treat or two).

We all need some vitamin C during this time of year, with cold season upon us. This is the perfect time to add some citrus to your water. You can add orange slices with basil. Orange provides the vitamins and basil provides relief for any stomach cramping or bloating.

We all love cranberry-white soda during the holidays, and there is an easy way to make it without all the sugar! You can add cranberries and mint to sparkling water and you have a tasty alternative. Add some lemon if you are feeling super risqué. The cranberries can help cure sore throat and overall provide nutrients for better health. The mint can reduce inflammation and help ease any stomach discomfort and the lemon can help with your immune system. See! You can have it all!

If you are in a rush, you can simply add some lemon and basil to your water and you can run out the door. It is important to remember that there is no wrong way to stay hydrated. If you must write yourself a note, buy a shiny new water bottle, or use an app on your phone, just know it is all for the greater good. We only get one body and it is important we do what we can to nourish and replenish it with what it needs. Your hydrated future self will thank you. Keep up the good work!

Young Living Essential Oil Company Review

If you follow me on Instagram – you will know I have recently been using Young Living essential oils. I’ve used essential oils before, but nothing compared to what Young Living provides.

First off:

What are essential oils? Essential oils are the highly concentrated version of the natural oils in plants.

Why are they important? Essential oils have many medicinal as well as therapeutic properties which can aid in living a more joyous and healthy life.

I’m going to go over what I’ve used from Young Living and what I think of the company as a whole.

So, first of all, Young Living has not only essential oils on their website, they also have skincare products, products for children or your family, and even nutritional products. I however, wanted to start with the oils because that is the basis of all their other products. I kind of stupidly picked my oils if I’m being honest with you, but now that I know what I can use them for, I don’t feel so badly. I picked Cedar Wood, Clove, Spearmint (why, lol), Citrus Fresh vitality (digestible), and ginger.

When I signed up for Young Living, I chose the basic start kit as well which meant I could get a look at some of the other products they sell – which included a sample of their Thieves cleaner, and a vitamin packed beverage called ningxia red. It also included Stress Away, which is one of their famous blends of oils. The packaging and care they took was remarkable, and nothing came damaged or even moved around at all.

Trying the oils was the best part of it all, and I could tell just by taking a smell of the oils that they were very high quality and I was immediately satisfied within minutes. I am so glad I spent the money on even testing out a few random oils because I knew this would lead to me buying oils which could help me out in the long run. I’ve had my oils for about three weeks now and I am smitten. I actually placed another order for Lavender, Lemon, and Inner Child (a blend).

I love to use them topically as much as possible and I have just started to diffuse them. I have noticed my general mindset has changed a lot just by purchasing these oils if I’m being honest. It makes me want to live an even more holistic life and thrive on nature’s gifts instead of ones produced in a factory.

If you are even slightly considering getting into essential oils and a holistic lifestyle with your skincare, household products, nutrition, I recommend looking a Young Living. The cost may be daunting at first but these bottles will last you ages since they are so highly concentrated and pure.

Healthy Vegan Snacks For Spring/Summer

I have recently been incorporating more vegan options into my diet and I feel amazing, so I thought I would share some of my favorite vegan options with you that are healthy as well as delicious.

  1. Avocado toast. I really like eating avocado toast and would eat it every day if I could. I personally like my avocado toast on rye bread which is vegan in the brand that I use. I simply cut open the avocado, mash it with a fork or a knife and apply to a toasted piece of rye bread. If you need some seasoning, I recommend pink Himalayan sea salt and a delicious Mexican spice called Tajin, which you can find at Target.
  2. Mint Green Iced Tea with Fresh Strawberries and Fresh Mint. When it starts to get warmer out, we all want something refreshing, so I recommend mint green iced tea with strawberries and fresh mint. All you have to do is take the mint green tea and steep it in hot water, add a mint leaf, pour over ice, and add some strawberries. You can do this with almost any tea and any fruit!
  3. Non-Dairy Yogurt with Banana Chips and Sunflower Seeds. This is probably my favorite! I really like the non-dairy yogurt and adding some banana chips and sunflower seeds adds a necessary crunch mixed in. You could also add any other fruit of your choice and any seeds/nuts.
  4. Protein Smoothie. Grab your blender and add in a pack of plant-based protein powder or a scoopful, then add some strawberries and a banana, and some dairy-free milk of your choice and of course some ice, then blend and you have a delicious high-protein smoothie!
  5. Fresh Fruit. You simply cannot go wrong with grabbing a piece of juicy, fresh fruit and enjoying it in the warm weather with a glass of water or your iced tea! My favorite right now is clementines!

Healthy Habits, No Diets.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

So, today I am going to be talking about nutrition and fitness. I am by no means a licensed professional but I do have a lot of experience since I have dealt with an eating disorder and have gone on so many diets that I have lost count. Due to these unhealthy actions, I have finally realized what is actually healthy and what works for me and may work for you.

Dieting is not healthy, and starving yourself is not healthy. The only way to truly be healthy is to take care of your body, meet the needs it needs and continue to do this over the course of your life. Losing weight fast and then gaining even more back is not what you want. So, today I’m just going to go over some tips to help you gain more control over your health and make it simple.


  1. Drink water. Do not drink seltzer, do not drink soda, diet soda, or flavored drinks which have no sugar but are high in aspartame. Anything carbonated will leave you bloated.  Pure water is the best drink for those trying to lose weight.
  2. Drink tea. Tea is something that will always be beneficial as long as you are making it fresh and not adding a ton of sweeteners. I think drinking tea can not only help with weight loss (green tea, oolong) but it can also slow you down if you are planning on reaching for something unhealthy. The process of making tea takes a bit so it will give you a chance to gather your thoughts and enjoy the moment.
  3. Aim to work out every day. I have been trying this method myself and if I aim to work out every day instead of specific days I will do more working out during the week. This is the case because even if one day I don’t feel like working out, I will be working out the next day and won’t feel bad if I miss one workout throughout the week.
  4. Keep one meal consistent throughout the week. I feel like this is a great thing to do because not only does it make your grocery bill less, it also helps you to not have to worry about this meal. I personally think breakfast is the best to keep consistent because time is not always available later in the day. If you eat a healthy breakfast you are also setting yourself up for success for the rest of the day because you have chosen a healthy meal and you aren’t going to want to start eating junk right away after.
  5. Try yoga/meditation in the afternoon. I can fully back up that this has been the best time for yoga/meditation in my day. I say this because prior to the afternoon we may have had a bumpy start, or a few bad moments already and we need time to clear ourselves of that tension before we start on the later part of our day. I feel doing yoga in the afternoon also makes me more productive in the evening as far as being on task and also doing an evening workout.
  6. Don’t compare/Let anyone influence your progress. So, it’s easy to hop on social media or flip through a magazine and compare yourself to others but this isn’t going to help you. Often in the past, I would go online and compare myself to other women or watch a movie and wish I had her figure but the truth is this isn’t about them and it isn’t about being a certain shape or size, it’s about getting healthy and living your life happily instead of miserable. You are doing this for you and never forget you are the reason you started, you are the one doing the work. No matter what anyone says, they aren’t you and you are the only one who knows how hard you are working so don’t let anyone’s opinions influence you.
  7. Go to bed earlier. This may seem like a tip everyone gives about everything, but it is true for weight loss. When you are on a normal schedule, your body will thank you. Sleeping lets your body restore the energy you so desperately need when you are exercising and being active during the day. I also know when I stay up for hours on end, I end up eating late at night and it’s usually something not healthy so I’ve made it a goal to go to sleep at a normal hour. So get some zzzs!
  8. Educate yourself. Learning about nutrition and fitness are so very important when you’re beginning a change of lifestyle. There are so many different ways people get healthy and one may not work for you but another may. My advice is to literally spend as much time as you possibly can to get informed about what is available to you and how your health can benefit from what is.
  9. Take it personally. As stated above, there is so much information about health and wellness that you will need to look at it as it is related to you. Don’t feel like you need to try a specific exercise or meal plan just because it says it will help you lose weight. You need to know what will and won’t work for you and even if that means changing very little, so be it. Every change you make counts but don’t ever feel pressured to live a certain way just because others are.
  10. Love yourself.  Sometimes when we are not at a healthy weight we forget it’s okay. There’s often anxiety that comes with starting over, and we often look at our past and wonder how we got here but it’s life and it comes with living. There’s no perfect size, shape, weight, height, etc. We are all beautiful and all deserve love. If you don’t love yourself, you will never be able to change. Trust me, it has taken me almost ten years to recover from an eating disorder and I am only now seeing regardless of my size I love myself and you should too!

Other ideas: 

  • Add protein to your meals in the form of tuna, nut butter, hummus, chia seeds, greek yogurt.
  • Add spinach or kale to your smoothies
  • Keep track of nutrients on an app or in a notebook
  • If you’re craving chocolate, drink a hot chocolate or add a few dark chocolate chips to yogurt
  • If you want juice but don’t want a spike in sugar, try adding a little to water and drinking that instead
  • Keep a reusable water bottle in the fridge for workouts, it might inspire you to grab a healthier option if you see it in there and it will be ready for your next workout.
  • Try popping some homemade popcorn and eating that instead of the ones covered in butter. You can use coconut oil for extra flavor.
  • Don’t restrict! Make sure you’re eating enough and drinking enough. Your body will go into starvation mode if you do not have enough calories and you will gain more weight than you lost next time you decide to eat normally.

These are honestly things I know work, I have been dealing with losing and gaining weight my whole life but I can stand behind these tips. I hope some of them work for you! Leave some of your own in the comments if you feel like it, and I hope you all have a great rest of your day!
