Stay Hydrated With Seasonally Infused Waters

nutrition October 5, 2018

Hello,  my loves!img_4427

No matter what the season, it is important to stay hydrated. While we often remember to drink plenty of water during the summer, it is equally as important to keep drinking enough of it during the colder months. Our bodies may not be in the heat of the sun, but we are being subjected to indoor heating and our bodies are adjusting to harsher, colder weather conditions. After even a short period of time this can cause our skin to look dehydrated and dull, and bodies can quickly become dehydrated.

Water, however, can be a bit plain. Do not worry, though! Infused water is here to save the day. Infused water is simply drinking the essence of fruits, vegetables, or herbs after is has been steeped in water for a period of time.

To infuse water, you simply add whatever ingredients you like to a pitcher of water and let sit in the refrigerator for several hours to let the fruit or herbs steep so that their benefits are infused in water. If you do not feel like waiting, there are also infusion tumblers which are available even at the dollar store! When it comes to measuring out how much to use, simply use your discretion and see what works for you. Part of the fun is creating new combinations!

For a crisp yet cozy combination of infused water, try adding apple slices with cinnamon sticks to your water. This will not only provide anti-oxidants from the apple, but it will also help you maintain your blood sugar levels (in case you have a treat or two).

We all need some vitamin C during this time of year, with cold season upon us. This is the perfect time to add some citrus to your water. You can add orange slices with basil. Orange provides the vitamins and basil provides relief for any stomach cramping or bloating.

We all love cranberry-white soda during the holidays, and there is an easy way to make it without all the sugar! You can add cranberries and mint to sparkling water and you have a tasty alternative. Add some lemon if you are feeling super risqué. The cranberries can help cure sore throat and overall provide nutrients for better health. The mint can reduce inflammation and help ease any stomach discomfort and the lemon can help with your immune system. See! You can have it all!

If you are in a rush, you can simply add some lemon and basil to your water and you can run out the door. It is important to remember that there is no wrong way to stay hydrated. If you must write yourself a note, buy a shiny new water bottle, or use an app on your phone, just know it is all for the greater good. We only get one body and it is important we do what we can to nourish and replenish it with what it needs. Your hydrated future self will thank you. Keep up the good work!

If you have a combination you like to drink, share it with us! Leave it in the comments below!

Young Living Essential Oil Company Review

Uncategorized October 2, 2018

Hi, my loves!

yl_seedtoseal_1-twitter.jpg

If you follow me on Instagram – you will know I have recently been using Young Living essential oils. I’ve used essential oils before, but nothing compared to what Young Living provides.

First off:

What are essential oils? Essential oils are the highly concentrated version of the natural oils in plants.

Why are they important? Essential oils have many medicinal as well as therapeutic properties which can aid in living a more joyous and healthy life.

I’m going to go over what I’ve used from Young Living and what I think of the company as a whole.

So, first of all, Young Living has not only essential oils on their website, they also have skincare products, products for children or your family, and even nutritional products. I however, wanted to start with the oils because that is the basis of all their other products. I kind of stupidly picked my oils if I’m being honest with you, but now that I know what I can use them for, I don’t feel so badly. I picked Cedar Wood, Clove, Spearmint (why, lol), Citrus Fresh vitality (digestible), and ginger.

When I signed up for Young Living, I chose the basic start kit as well which meant I could get a look at some of the other products they sell – which included a sample of their Thieves cleaner, and a vitamin packed beverage called ningxia red. It also included Stress Away, which is one of their famous blends of oils. The packaging and care they took was remarkable, and nothing came damaged or even moved around at all.

Trying the oils was the best part of it all, and I could tell just by taking a smell of the oils that they were very high quality and I was immediately satisfied within minutes. I am so glad I spent the money on even testing out a few random oils because I knew this would lead to me buying oils which could help me out in the long run. I’ve had my oils for about three weeks now and I am smitten. I actually placed another order for Lavender, Lemon, and Inner Child (a blend).

I love to use them topically as much as possible and I have just started to diffuse them. I have noticed my general mindset has changed a lot just by purchasing these oils if I’m being honest. It makes me want to live an even more holistic life and thrive on nature’s gifts instead of ones produced in a factory.

If you are even slightly considering getting into essential oils and a holistic lifestyle with your skincare, household products, nutrition, I recommend looking a Young Living. The cost may be daunting at first but these bottles will last you ages since they are so highly concentrated and pure.

I also encourage you, strongly, to buy the premium starter kit because it is the best value for what you are receiving. I’m going to leave a link to the website just in case you are curious.  Click Here

I will most likely be posting more on essential oils as I purchase more from Young Living. If you have any questions about Young Living or essential oils in general, feel free to leave a comment below! I’m eager to talk about it!

I hope you all have a lovely rest of your day,

Julie

How To Lessen Daily Anxiety

blog September 27, 2018

Hello, my loves!

tumblr_inline_mrwp9iIv6I1qz4rgp.png

I wanted to bring forward the topic of anxiety as my blog post because I know I myself suffer from anxiety and always have. I remember being quite young and getting so nauseous I actually couldn’t stop getting sick. It took until my adulthood to combat some of the anxiety and while it is still here I am able to cope with it a little better.

I am not a doctor or medical professional but I do have a lot of experience with mental illness and I hope it will help others who are reading this to know it is okay to feel the way you do and you are allowed to feel vulnerable. This being said, I want to talk about some things you can try to help lessen the anxious feelings you may have.

  1. Breathe. Breathing is so important, and it comes naturally to us but when we are in a state of anxiety we often cannot breathe the way we would at other times. So, concentrating on your breathing and taking deep breaths until you reach a level of calm is a quick and easy way to at least let your body know you are going to be okay.
  2. Talk about it. I know many of us cannot seem to express ourselves properly when we are under pressure or are feeling anxious but I’ve realized when I bring up my concerns to others, their assurance that everything will be fine is enough to get me out of the anxious mindset I was in.
  3. Aromatherapy. I use aromatherapy to not only let my body adjust to the aroma of the oil but to also set an intention. This can simply be taking out the oil and smelling it without even applying it and affirming to yourself everything is okay and you can rest easy for even a moment or two. I recommend looking into lavender essential oil specifically for relaxation or even insomnia.
  4. Write down your worries. This tool is a huge one for me when I am anxious. I literally write down everything in my head and let it out onto paper. Even if it is as simple as you need to clean your fridge, write it down. There is something so soothing about making lists or organizing your thoughts that can honestly eliminate a lot of fear. Having a plan is a great way to combat anxiety.
  5. Sleep. If you can get a good nights sleep, I promise you whatever situation you are worried about will not seem as bad tomorrow. We overwork our minds their capacity and this can cause even more stress and fatigue.  Try to get into a routine where you are finding yourself winding down before midnight and you will feel so much better.

Anxiety can be a treacherous and reoccurring thing that does not give up on making you feel horrible but it can be worked through. If your anxiety is causing you daily pain, I would recommend seeking professional help where they can assist you and walk you through what is happening. I know certain medications helped me in the past when mine was out of my control.

If you want to share how you cope with anxiety, please, please, feel free to leave suggestions in the comments so anyone who is reading and myself can learn more.

Virtual hugs for all!

Love,

Julie

3 Ways To Gain Mental Clarity

organization, spirituality September 4, 2018

img_8942

Hello, my dear ones!

I am going to be talking about how to maintain mental clarity when dealing with stress, anxiety, or anything else that may be cluttering your mind. We all have moments in our lives when it is just too much, and I came up with three different techniques I use to regain a clear mind.

  1. Meditate. I know we have all been told to meditate in the past but it is such a positive action we can take when our mind is busy. I suggest using a crystal that calls out to you and then setting an intention for your meditation. You could simply say you want to dedicate five minutes to your breathing or perhaps self-love. Meditation doesn’t need to be deep and profound all the time, it can simply be choosing to give yourself time and space to breathe.
  2. Smudge. You may have heard of smudging and it is a very effective technique to reset your space and yourself. I recommend tidying before you smudge. So, if there is an area of the house you need to tend to it may help decrease your anxiety too. Simply, light your smudge stick and blow out the flame and allow the smoke to rise. You can then focus the smoke on areas where you want to clear the energy of. I honestly think this mentally resets the mind to focus on what is before you instead of behind you.
  3. Essential oils. I tend to always buy clarity essential oil blends at the store but you can make your own or use peppermint, lemon, rosemary, etc. I honestly think when you smell a fresh smell it can clear out any thoughts you may be letting build up during the day. Use an intentional smelling method and deep breathe in the aroma and tell yourself as you do this that you will be clearing out any negative or busy energy or simply that you need to focus. Aromatherapy is a powerful tool that you should always utilize!

I think these are all effective methods of bringing peace of mind back to you. However, whatever works for you is wonderful! I think it is the setting the intention you need to focus and taking a  few deep breaths that works like magic.

I’d love if you would share any thing you do to clear your head in the comments~

Have a lovely day,

Julie

Good Chemistry: Wild Child Perfume Review

blog, Uncategorized May 12, 2018

Hello, my dear ones!

img_9482

Yesterday I posted an overview of lavender essential oil. Today, I’m going to be talking about a perfume which is formulated with essential oils. The brand is called Good Chemistry and can be found at Target stores.

Good Chemistry is a new line available at Target and is vegan and cruelty free.  They are also paraben free and dye free as well as aluminum free and phthalate-free. All their perfumes and body sprays are fragranced with essential oils which is something I am glad the market has available these days. The brand carries different perfumes with cute names like Brainiac or Queen Bee. I find the whole packaging to be very modern and cute.

The specific perfume which I’m going to be talking about today is the Wild Child perfume.

Wild Child’s label says “Mischievous and Bright with Looks To Match”, and it is formulated with notes of bergamot, coconut,  and bamboo. I can totally smell the coconut in this fragrance, but it is not overpowering to the point where it smells like sun oil. I can also smell the spicy floral and freshness of bergamot and bamboo. Together the smell of this perfume is quite strong when you initially spray it or even are just smelling it through the applicator but once it is on your skin, it is the warmest, floral scent! I would typically wear this scent during the warmer weather, and definitely if you are going to the beach or an outing where you’ll be enjoying a sunny day.

Wild Child perfume retails for $25 USD for 1.7 fl oz but can be found in a body mist for $13 USD for 4.25 fl oz. These also come in rollerball form!

If you are planning on purchasing this perfume I would definitely go in-store to smell the range before you purchase. I can say this fragrance is definitely something that not everyone will like just because it does have essential oils in it, which some people may not be on board with a particular one.  I’ve found that this brand seems to have a great variation on what each perfume smells like on, as opposed to just spraying from the bottle.

Overall, I think these are really unique, environmentally friendly fragrances which have a large range of scents to choose from and I really do like the Wild Child one but as said, it may not work for everyone. I encourage anyone to stop in and smell these even if you just want to see what they’re all about!

I hope this review provided some insight on the Good Chemistry Wild Child fragrance. I honestly am just very proud of companies like this that are coming out with options which aren’t so toxic to our bodies and our earth.

If you’ve tried one of the Good Chemistry perfumes or sprays, let me know! I seriously would love to get another since I’m almost out of my Daydreamer one.

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend thus far, and I’ll be back tomorrow!

Until Next,

Julie

Lavender Essential Oil Overview

blog, skincare, spirituality May 11, 2018

Hello, my dears!

pexels-photo-1013479.jpeg

This past week has been hard on me, and I have been relying on essential oils more than usual. Essential oils are oils which are derived from various herbs, flowers, and resins of plants, etc. I personally have been using them for about three years now and I can tell that they have played a large part in relieving stress in my life. I personally am lucky that essential oils have an immediate effect on me, so I am able to use them as needed. The essential oil which has had the most influence on my anxiety and stress is lavender essential oil. Lavender is known for calming and relaxing and could easily put me to sleep but it has many other roles as well which I’m going to briefly go over today.

  1. Lavender can be used in aromatherapy. It is a wonderful smelling oil with properties that soothe and calm. It can be used in soap, lotions, or perfumes. You can also make pillow sprays, room sprays, etc to promote sleep and wellness.
  2. It can be used as an acne treatment.  The way lavender works with acne is by being an antibacterial and reducing inflammation. It can also be used as an acne scar healer as well.
  3. A pain reliever. Lavender, when topically applied and used with a massage can relieve many muscle pains!
  4. Improves blood circulation. This wonderful oil has the ability to lower blood pressure and increase blood circulation and is often used for those who have hypertension. You can get the results by using lavender as an aromatherapy tool.
  5. Strengthens your immune system. Lavender is an immunity booster since it has antibacterial and antiviral properties. Lavender was used this way in earlier times to treat infections.

Lavender is also known for treating nausea, aids in digestive flow, and may even prevent cancer from forming.

I highly encourage you to find a use for lavender essential oil in your life. It is such a lovely, natural oil which can provide many reliefs to symptoms, specifically anxiety and worries. Make sure when you are looking for oils though, that you find a high-quality oil so you can get the most benefits.

Until Next Time!

Happy Friday,

Julie

(p.s. Regular posting will resume Sunday.)

DIY: At Home Skincare

Uncategorized November 4, 2017

Darlings,
You don’t know this about me but I almost started my own Etsy shop for skincare. I honestly took a good month out of my life and dedicated some time to producing products which were not only useful but also sustainable. Unfortunately, it was a lot more difficult than I anticipated and I had to stop my venture in starting a natural skincare shop on my own, but I learned a lot about skincare in that short period of time and I wanted to share a few DIY products you can make at home.

So, first off – exfoliating is an amazing thing and the right exfoliator can truly make your skin feel fresh and soft in a matter of minutes. My favorite exfoliator is two ingredients:

  1. Sea Salt
  2. Olive Oil

This is the perfect combination to provide smooth, silky skin.

A toner is another excellent way to remove impurities and balance skin. I found that mixing two simple ingredients made the best toner I’ve ever used!

  1. Witch Hazel
  2. Tea Tree Oil
  3. Essential Oil Of Your Choice [for topical use, optional]

This product made my skin feel so clean and refreshed, and I urge you to try it. You could also put this in a spray bottle and use it as a setting spray.

For a mask, you really want something hydrating as well as something that will depuff and I found one that truly does both of those things, and this one only has three lovely, natural ingredients.

  1. Raw Honey
  2. Olive Oil
  3. Coffee Grounds

Honestly, this mask made my skin feel lovely and works well for any type of skin.

These three are wonderful and natural DIYs with ingredients you most likely already have.

I do not have exact measurements for these recipes because at the time I was using them I was simply experimenting and did not determine specific amounts needed. What I can suggest is putting even amounts of each product in, and that should do the trick!

I really hope you try these out and if you want more recipes that worked for me, leave me a comment because I actually have many others I can share as well!
