Thrift Store Finds June 2018

Hello, my loves! Happy Monday!

As you may know, I am an avid thrift shopper. I love spending little money on high quality items  at the thrift store instead of lesser quality items that would cost much more from a typical store. I have a thrift shop near my house that has the nicest items, whether it be clothes or home decor and it is the lowest prices I’ve ever found in my experience. I decided I’m going to share my recent finds.

I found these three desert plates for 50cents each. They are originally from Pier 1 and I am in love with them. They have such a cute floral design and I will likely use them to hold little crystals, rings, or even lip balms.

I bought these small bowls with blue floral detail. These were 99cents each and are in perfect condition. I will use these bowls for oatmeal in the morning.

img_3142

I bought these blank cards that have a country style vibe but they also remind me of summer. The pack of cards was 40cents and came with five cards. I will be sending these out to family members who live in different states.

The last two items I am sharing is a bold pink necklace, which I bought for 99cents, and a floral print skirt which was 2 dollars. I plan on pairing this with a white dress tank top and black ballet flats for a casual summer outfit.

My love for vintage and floral is probably quite apparent here, but I hope you liked the small look into some of the purchases I’ve made so far in June.

Until next time,

Julie

June Goals

Hello, my loves!

june_056

Happy June! Today is going to be a post about my goals for June. I honestly have been trying to get my thoughts organized lately and I do well with setting intentions and goals for the days, weeks, and months ahead. I know my blog has been a little sporadic lately and I am vowing to change that. We all go through events in life that sometimes do not allow much room for what we want to be working on and that is what was going on this past month. A lot of chaos was happening and I was unable to structure that chaos, but right now I’m trying as hard as I can to rise above any negativity in my life and start with a positive and overall progressive month.

My goals for the upcoming month are:

  • Post 2 times per week on blog&Instagram
  • Yoga&stretching daily
  • Drink only water for a beverage
  • Laugh more
  • Invest in myself, not in things
  • Sleep before midnight
  • More self-care time
  • Journal daily

My list could go on and on for literally pages and pages but I do not want to focus on everything at once and then be disappointed when I fail to accomplish them. I feel like what I’d like to change the most is how I feel about myself. I often feel disappointed because I may not be at a certain place in my life and I am comparing my life to other people but in the end, it doesn’t matter, as long as I am happy.

I hope this encourages you to set intentions or goals for yourself this upcoming month as it is truly a helpful practice.

Until Next,

Julie

Self-Care For The Goddess Within

Hello, my dear ones!

I decided today I’m doing a little snippet of an e-book I am writing called Self-Care For The Goddess Within. I really want to bring light to feminine energy and self-care. I am all about self-care as you have read on my blog but I want to specifically talk about ways you can nurture your soul back to feeling whole again. Sorry for my posts not being regular this week but they will resume back to normal starting tomorrow!

Here is a snippet of the book:

GODDESS

How often do you forget the pain that remains behind your eyes? For the comfort of others, just one more time? You believe you have relieved the control it has over you, but it grabs you so gently right before you have a chance to escape, and you suddenly remember everything. The pain is the part of you which you cannot erase but over time the feelings you have for it may form a revolution in your life, but know you are the only one with the power to change. Memories do not fade, but we can learn more from them if we only try.

The first part of self-care for goddesses is knowing who you are and who you are only now. You are as you are in this moment, you are not what you couldn’t control as a child, you are not the poor decisions you may make in your future, you just are a pure light, which has been dimmed but needs no permission to shine, for you can at any given time. Embrace this moment now, and breathe deeply, my dear. You are all you have been searching for over the last several years. You are the glow in the realm of the dark, and I want you to be able to take action with breath from your heart.

I am looking very much forward to working on finishing this book and it will probably be made available for free on a separate page of my blog, once I figure it out. Today I want to encourage everyone to go out and do something for themselves. You are worth it.

As Always,  Much love,

Julie.

My Current Desk Essentials

Hello, my darlings!

I have been working a lot from home lately and I have become custom to having certain items near me when I work. I typically use the desk I have in my bedroom for work but lately, I’ve been using my kitchen space to do most of my work. I like to have a large area to stretch and feel like I am able to visualize my work. I actually reorganize my office space a lot and I may even work on doing that again soon, but for now, I just wanted to share what I like to use on a daily basis to get work done and stay motivated.

img_7721Pens. We all use them, we all love them! I love having a variety of pens, specifically colored ones so I can use them to color various tasks or use them to underline important figures. Highlighters and sharpies are also a key utensil for me for my work, seeing as I do some illustration work and like to do the rough drafts with sharpies a lot of the time.

Notepads. I literally use notepads, notebooks, anything, all the time. I write down endless amounts of lists so I need endless amounts of notebooks. I have fun with them because they are all so cute and decorated so lovely.

Inspirational books. There’s a time of day when you don’t want to keep working and you just want to goof off, so there should be some sort of motivational quote, or a book, or an inspirational board you can look at and gain inspiration from. If you don’t have something like this, I highly recommend it!

img_7722Sketchbook. I personally use sketchbooks for doodles or for ideas for designs or simply just using them to take a break from work for a little while and write poetry. It’s just nice to have a large sketchbook in my opinion.

Healthy Snacks. I really like Larabars lately, and they are vegan so I’m loving that even more. You could really have any snack though, sometimes I like hummus and veggies or apples and peanut butter. Seeing as your desk is at home, the possibilities are endless!

img_7723

Hand Creams. Who can’t get enough hand cream? I love having hand cream by my side just to soften them and the smell of the basil and fig one is divine! The Nivea one is great for winter.

Chapstick. Chapstick is also always a great item to have on your desk because chapped lips can happen at any time and you want soft lips!

img_7724

Coffee, Tea, Water. I really like to have a beverage by my side at all times. I personally like iced beverages so I make an iced coffee, tea, or iced water and I’m set! I do drink a lot of water during the day and you should try to as well, it definitely helps with afternoon energy dives.

The other things I like to have on my desk are my agenda, little trinkets, a calendar, post-it notes, and other things that just make me motivated to do more work.

What are the essentials for your desk? I’d love to know! Leave me a comment! I seriously am obsessed with paper products and anything that has to do with organization so I’m always looking for ideas!

Hope you are all having a lovely day,

Julie

Healthy Vegan Snacks For Spring/Summer

img_6836

Hello, my loves!

I have recently been incorporating more vegan options into my diet and I feel amazing, so I thought I would share some of my favorite vegan options with you that are healthy as well as delicious.

  1. Avocado toast. I really like eating avocado toast and would eat it every day if I could. I personally like my avocado toast on rye bread which is vegan in the brand that I use. I simply cut open the avocado, mash it with a fork or a knife and apply to a toasted piece of rye bread. If you need some seasoning, I recommend pink Himalayan sea salt and a delicious Mexican spice called Tajin, which you can find at Target.
  2. Mint Green Iced Tea with Fresh Strawberries and Fresh Mint. When it starts to get warmer out, we all want something refreshing, so I recommend mint green iced tea with strawberries and fresh mint. All you have to do is take the mint green tea and steep it in hot water, add a mint leaf, pour over ice, and add some strawberries. You can do this with almost any tea and any fruit!
  3. Non-Dairy Yogurt with Banana Chips and Sunflower Seeds. This is probably my favorite! I really like the non-dairy yogurt and adding some banana chips and sunflower seeds adds a necessary crunch mixed in. You could also add any other fruit of your choice and any seeds/nuts.
  4. Protein Smoothie. Grab your blender and add in a pack of plant-based protein powder or a scoopful, then add some strawberries and a banana, and some dairy-free milk of your choice and of course some ice, then blend and you have a delicious high-protein smoothie!
  5. Fresh Fruit. You simply cannot go wrong with grabbing a piece of juicy, fresh fruit and enjoying it in the warm weather with a glass of water or your iced tea! My favorite right now is clementines!

Let me know in the comments if you have any vegan snacks you like, I’d love to know!

As always, hope you are enjoying your day!

The Importance of Following Your Dreams

cl

Hello again, my beautiful friends!

“I haven’t slept in two weeks, which is good because times are hard for dreamers.”

For today’s entry, I am going to be talking about the value of dreams. This is more of a “spark your thoughts” type of post.  This is part of a collection of posts I will be posting in the future on dreams and goal-oriented living.

I have been a dreamer my whole life and it has gotten me through the worst of times. Having hope and inspiration and setting goals is one of the most rewarding things you can do in your lifetime. I think we often think childhood dreams fade as we reach adulthood but I’d say that isn’t true because my childhood dreams have been with me since I can remember. My goals and ambitions have changed but I still have my dream of having my voice heard and being a successful writer. We all have goals we want to meet and dreams we want to see come to life and sometimes on the worst days it seems like our dreams should just be overlooked and forgotten about but, no, that is when they should be thought about the most! What is your dream(s)?

Now, think about how this dream has inspired you to make decisions in your life. Are you honoring it or letting it turn into an irrelevant idea? Your dreams and ambitions are driven by who you are as a person and what experiences you have gone through, they are not random and should not be taken lightly. We all owe ourselves to live by what we want, not what others tell us is acceptable or what society deems necessary for us.

The most important thing to remember is that with hard work and determination all dreams/goals can become reality. It seems to me that people feel that because they have a job currently, or perhaps they are simply unhappy, that they are trapped in that state for the rest of time. There are twenty-four hours in a day and there is time, even if only an hour every day, you can dedicate to making your dreams come true. As long as you are sincerely passionate about  Now, for everyone it is going to be different – sometimes dreams are job oriented, some are thought oriented, some are physical, some are emotional. No dream or goal is too small or too large! The only thing stopping you now is thinking something is stopping you.

“You are stronger than you think and braver than you believe” once said a wise, Christopher Robin. These are the words we need to remember. There is always going to be something we could do that is easy, or not requiring much of us, but is it as rewarding as doing what you want to do even if it takes longer and more work? I do not want you to ever think the easy way out is always the best one.

This post is really just to spark some thought, and hopefully, inspire you to be more aware that your dreams and ambitions ARE very important and shouldn’t be discarded merely because it seems too much of a far-out hope. Any age, any gender, anyone – can succeed, it may take time but you don’t want to rush something you hope will last forever.

I will be getting into more detail about steps you can implement to get closer to your goals and dreams.

Until next time, my dreamers…

Julie

Kopari Sheer Oil Review

img_6416

Hello, everyone!

I went shopping at TJ Maxx a bit ago and I purchased the Kopari coconut sheer oil and I want to give a review of this product since I absolutely love everything and anything coconut!

The coconut sheer oil by Kopari is a coconut oil which was specifically produced to be used as a beauty oil. This product, in particular, is formulated with not only coconut but many other wonderful ingredients such as shea butter, coffee, melon, banana, the list goes on. The product retails for $44 USD for 1.7 FL OZ or 50 mL and can be found on Kopari’s website and is also available at Sephora. This product is cruelty-free and vegan.

The coconut sheer oil is solid at room temperature but can easily be liquefied by running the bottle under warm water. The packaging is very handy, as it comes with a dropper to help with not only sanitary concerns but also concerns that you may use too much product unnecessarily. I really enjoy the thought that was put into this packaging, and the bottle is made of a hard, milk glass that seems very high end.

The sheer oil smells amazing! This is a warm, vanilla-coconut scent which is not overpowering in the slightest. It is one of the nicest fragrances I’ve smelt in a skincare product to date. I also like that you do not need a lot of this oil for it to be effective!

I’ve been using the product nonstop for about a week and I can gather that this product does exactly what it says it will which is:

  1. Facial Oil that provides moisture and anti-aging properties. Reduces inflammation and can fight acne. My skin has been clearer than it has been for a while and I can even tell my acne scars are lightening up a bit and it’s only been a week!
  2. Makeup Primer. Yes, my skin feels so much softer and adapts to taking makeup a lot better when using this product.
  3. Fly-away hair tamer. Most coconut oils make my hair greasy within seconds of contact but this one has more smoothing properties than adding excess oil.
  4. Body oil for dry skin. This can help with stretch marks or dull or dry skin. I’m not sure about stretch marks but this sure has helped my parched skin glow.

I can see myself using for a long time. and repurchasing when I run out, as long as it continues to remain effective, which honestly, I think it will! If you like coconut oil from the grocery store, you are going to love this one because it is just so much better and is formulated with the best ingredients to bring out the best of your skin.

I am a Kopari affiliate and there is currently a 20% of sitewide sale going on, so if anyone is interested – simply click the picture above and you will be directed there. You can also get 10 % off your first purchase if you sign up for their e-mail subscription. Definitely, check out their website for more natural skincare options!

If you have any questions or have tried Kopari’s products let me know in the comments!

Until Next,

Julie
