My Magical Night Routine

spirituality November 12, 2018

Hi, my loves!

1WNd

Today I am going to be talking about my magical night routine. I call it magical because I have been practicing being more mindful and bringing subtle witch rituals into my life.

To start my night routine, I take off my makeup as soon as I can. I used to hate taking my makeup off but recently my skin has improved drastically (due to Alani Nu) and I don’t feel so self-aware of my troubled skin anymore. I am so happy now to remove my makeup. I use a simple makeup wipe to remove whatever makeup is on and then I do my normal skincare routine. I’ve added in a step, which is using a black onyx facial roller. I purchased this at my local metaphysical store and I love it!

I will sometimes make a special hot chocolate drink that adds cinnamon and vanilla extract as well Himalayan  sea salt and turmeric. It is a delicious way to end the day and curbs my cravings for super sweet treats at night.

After this, I will go into my bedroom and turn on my essential oil diffuser. I typically put in a calming blend such as lavender and cedar wood or stress away from Young Living. I usually will wipe down my surfaces each night and tidy my room. It is something that has been truly beneficial for me because my mind does not need to look at a cluttered space and I like seeing everything in the proper place.

Lately, I’ve been working slowly on writing a book  – the one I’ve promised for ages (basically a guide to all things self-care/spiritual/lovely)! It is finally coming together but I am trying to decide if I want to release it as a book or as a course guide for an online course I’d love to teach. We will see, maybe it can be both! So, I’ll work on that for an hour or so each night but I don’t like to stay up too late anymore so I try to reign it in by 10 PM at the latest.

I will then sit down and do an angel card reading. I know it may seem late in the day to do an angel card reading but personally, my energy needs angels the most when it is at the end of the day because this is typically when my mind is the most receptive to receiving messages because I am about to be dreaming soon and I receive many messages through dreams.

Depending on the message, I may now meditate about it or try to journal or at least focus my attention on what the message that came through said. Sometimes (can’t lie) I will fall asleep meditating but often I will try to remain in my routine and will grab a crystal intuitively from my collection and will try to work with it as well before bed. Malachite is a crystal I am super sensitive to, and works well for me to receive messages – so try to pick a crystal you can work with over time but remember to cleanse them so they continue to assist your energetic needs.

I find stretching before bed is important or doing light yoga. I put on some zen music and try not to think of too much. I’ll often apply essential oils topically at this point and try to relax. I really have been connecting with my oils lately and I am so grateful to have them in my life for supporting me. After stretching, I will brush my teeth and sometimes shower if I feel I need to relax even more.

Lastly, I will write down a spell. This spell is usually regarding something I want to occur in my dream like healing or a message I want to be revealed there. Other times it is to try to wake up in a happy state or something on those lines. I’ve found each spell works when I put in a conscious effort and expect it to happen. It is all about energy work.

Then it is lights out and off to bed after I drink some lemon water to make sure I stay hydrated during my rest.

If you have any rituals you do, you should leave me yours in the comments! I love to hear about other people’s routines and I hope you enjoyed reading about mine.

Much love,

Julie

A Cozy Harry Potter Weekend

blog October 28, 2018

Hi, my loves!

Image result for harry potter mary grandpre artwork

I hope you are all enjoying the weekend. I have been relaxing at home enjoying the cooler weather and getting cozy. With this weekend I’ve spent it re-watching (for the hundredth time…) the Harry Potter series. Today I’m going to share a few ways you can make your weekends or week a little more magical!

Get Sorted

Of course we all want to go to Hogwarts. So, why not find out your school house on Pottermore?

Pottermore is a website dedicated to the world of Harry Potter and can fill you in on some of the unknowns of the Harry Potter series. There is a Sorting Hat quiz you can take to decide which house you belong in. I got Hufflepuff!

You can follow the link here: Pottermore

Drink Butterbeer!

If you have read the books or watched the movies, you know that the most comforting beverage in the wizarding world is butterbeer, which is a delicious wizard drink, served warm and foaming in tankards or chilled in bottles. The drink is butterscotch based and you can make it at home and pretend you’re at the Three Broomsticks!

1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk

1/4 cup butterscotch topping

2 tablespoons whipped butter, room temperature

1 1/2 cups vanilla cream soda

Old-fashioned butterscotch candy sticks, for garnish

Combine condensed milk, butterscotch topping, and butter in a glass heatproof measuring cup. Heat in microwave for 1 minute. Remove and stir until butter has melted and incorporated into mixture. Meanwhile heat cream soda in another heatproof measuring cup for 1 minute 30 seconds.

Divide butterscotch mixture between two 10- to 12-ounce mugs. Fill mugs with heated cream soda and stir thoroughly. Serve garnished with an old-fashioned butterscotch candy stick.

When In Doubt..Go To The Library

Hermione is known for her wit and wisdom and she always is in the library. Try to go to your local library or pick out a book from your own library that intrigues you and spend some time reading. You can even read the Harry Potter series if you feel so inclined! This is one of the coziest activities you can do in my opinion and it expands your mind and perspective so much. Just remember no restricted section without permission!

It’s Not Much But It’s Home

We all want clean and tidy homes but just because your house is clean doesn’t mean it can’t be cozy! Try to find some home decor which makes you smile and feel Burrow-ish. It doesn’t have to be expensive, it can literally be a decorative pillow or a blanket to throw over a chair or adding candles or fairy lights to a room. Spend some time thinking about what makes you feel at home and add some of that into your space! Mrs. Weasley always made her house welcoming even if everything didn’t always fit into place.

Write A Letter And Use The (Owl) Post

Everyone tends to be on an e-mail, texting, etc, trend and we often forget how special it is to receive a hand written letter. Make time in your week to send a letter to someone you are thinking of but haven’t seen in a while, even if you talk to them every day. You could hand make a card and even write it with a quill or use calligraphy! Be creative and make it a point to do this more regularly. Send it off and you and your loved one will both enjoy the time you took.

Have a magical weekend, and a wonderful week~

3 Ways To Gain Mental Clarity

organization, spirituality September 4, 2018

img_8942

Hello, my dear ones!

I am going to be talking about how to maintain mental clarity when dealing with stress, anxiety, or anything else that may be cluttering your mind. We all have moments in our lives when it is just too much, and I came up with three different techniques I use to regain a clear mind.

  1. Meditate. I know we have all been told to meditate in the past but it is such a positive action we can take when our mind is busy. I suggest using a crystal that calls out to you and then setting an intention for your meditation. You could simply say you want to dedicate five minutes to your breathing or perhaps self-love. Meditation doesn’t need to be deep and profound all the time, it can simply be choosing to give yourself time and space to breathe.
  2. Smudge. You may have heard of smudging and it is a very effective technique to reset your space and yourself. I recommend tidying before you smudge. So, if there is an area of the house you need to tend to it may help decrease your anxiety too. Simply, light your smudge stick and blow out the flame and allow the smoke to rise. You can then focus the smoke on areas where you want to clear the energy of. I honestly think this mentally resets the mind to focus on what is before you instead of behind you.
  3. Essential oils. I tend to always buy clarity essential oil blends at the store but you can make your own or use peppermint, lemon, rosemary, etc. I honestly think when you smell a fresh smell it can clear out any thoughts you may be letting build up during the day. Use an intentional smelling method and deep breathe in the aroma and tell yourself as you do this that you will be clearing out any negative or busy energy or simply that you need to focus. Aromatherapy is a powerful tool that you should always utilize!

I think these are all effective methods of bringing peace of mind back to you. However, whatever works for you is wonderful! I think it is the setting the intention you need to focus and taking a  few deep breaths that works like magic.

I’d love if you would share any thing you do to clear your head in the comments~

Have a lovely day,

Julie

Self-Care For Low Times & The Fall

blog, spirituality September 3, 2018

Hi, my loves!

Autumn_Header

So, I’ve had a slightly low weekend and I thought I’d  shed some light on what I do when I get into a dark place.

The best thing to do in my opinion is to ask yourself why you are feeling down. I know for me, it was because I had a really busy week and then this weekend I didn’t do much. Also, I’m an Empath and I have a friend going through a hard time so it affects me greatly. The swiftly changing weather is also becoming more and more apparent and I am not adjusting the best.

Getting out a journal and writing for even a few pages is so therapeutic. It helps release the thoughts into a new space and can star the process of healing. You could also write poetry, short stories, or anything really that is creatively expressing emotions.

You can go outside if the weather permits. During this time of year it becomes less and less appealing to go outside because the weather is getting colder and less sunny. However, I still try to get outside when I can and just simply taking a walk or breathing in the fresh air is a wonderful self-care option.

Clean your space or decorate a part of your space. Now the fall is coming, you can prepare and self-care by cleaning your space and decorating for the season. This always helps me because each season is like a new chapter in your life that you have a chance to rebuild. Buy a set of fairy lights or fall decor from your local craft store. You can even choose to make it an art project. You could also burn Palo Santo to clear the atmosphere of negative energy!

Use crystals to set a positive intention! I like to use crystals for self-care because they are so wonderful to set positive intentions with. Find a crystal that you find drawn to and program it to help you with something you are struggling with or want to embrace more of in your life.

Make your morning routine a ritual. Making sure your morning starts off well is important because it will lead to a more positive and productive day. Make your favorite tea, turn on some music, play with your pet, give yourself a facial massage with essential oils, etc. As long as it is making you feel happy and alive, especially during the low times, it is a good sign!

Say thank you and mean it. You could make a list of things you are grateful for or say them out loud, and then truly feel the power of being thankful for what you have. You could do this at night as you look at the stars or the moon, or during the day when you see the beautiful leaves changing colors. Or anywhere! Just sit with it for a moment and you will feel divinity all around you.

Dance, move, do yoga, or meditate while you walk. Honestly, movement is the perfect remedy for low days because it encourages your mind to produce happy emotions instead of low, sad ones. It doesn’t matter if you’re running a marathon or cleaning the house, you can incorporate movement into you routine and you will feel the benefits almost immediately.

Make a healthy meal. Honestly, I feel nutrition gets neglected a lot when we are feeling sad because we either want to eat everything in sight or not eat at all or maybe just not the healthier foods. When we choose to take time to prepare a meal we show ourselves we love ourselves. Find an easy recipe on Pinterest or simply combine the ingredients you have at home into a delicious lunch. It’ll make you feel better, trust me. With the fall season coming, if all else fails, make apples with nut butter. Or brew a nice earthy tea.

I could go on and on with suggestions, but these are my main ones for right now. I may make a part 2 to this because self-care is so important in our lives. I hope you all had an amazing weekend and I will catch up with you all later!

Until Next,

Julie

Metaphysical Haul

spirituality July 15, 2018

Hi, my loves!

As you may have gathered from my other posts, I am a very spiritual person. I truly developed a sense of tranquility when embarking on my spiritual journey. I have had an excellent teacher – my friend Andy. He was able to enlighten a lot of darkness while I was on the beginning of my path and now I am currently working on it every day, trying to find the wisdom and my own inner grace.

I have found a metaphysical shop near my house and I have been picking up crystals here and there for the last few months but this past weekend I felt compelled to go back and this post is going to be all about what I purchased there!

img_6602

Crystals

My main crystal is rose quartz. It is the dominating crystal in my collection and I often use it for not just self-love but for expression, creativity, relationships, etc. I don’t often buy a ton of crystals at a time either because they need to have meaning in my life and for me it is difficult to vibe with many crystals at once. I felt like buying a few more crystals that I thought would help me on my life path. I have only had this group of crystals for a day or so but they seem to generate very good energy together and I already can feel the benefits of having them in my space.

  • Cassiterite – A crystal meant to aid shamans, mediums, or anyone who connects to other realms.
  • Apatite – Used in meditation, to help with concentration and clarity. Can also help control appetite.
  • Kunzite – A lithium based crystal which produces a soothing effect and can be used to help combat the woes of a grueling daily routine.
  • Peach Moonstone – Brings relief to emotional issues such as depression or anger. It can help eliminate worry or fear we carry around.
  • Chrysoprase  – Helps with fluent speech, deep sleep, and promoting truth. Can help with compulsive and impulsive behavior.

Ayurveda Anointing Oils

I purchased two Chakra oils which I felt would assist me in my current energy state. I chose the Heart Chakra, which is made of High Altitude Lavender, Rose Geranium, Rose Otto,  Bergamot, and jojoba oil. This oil is meant to help with opening your heart or being awoken with your heart. I simply apply the smallest amount on my chest and breathe deeply. I also chose the Third Eye Chakra oil, which is made of Basil, Camphor, Rosemary, and High Altitude Lavender, and jojoba oil. I simply press a drop of the oil where my third eye is and breathe deeply.

Oracle Cards

I typically use a standard Tarot deck when doing readings, but I decided I wanted to reach deeper into Shamanism and try to learn more about it and channel some of the energy they have. I bought two decks of oracle cards and I’ve used both of them already and I am in love with them. There is definitely an energy behind the decks and I am so glad I found them.

The first deck is the Shaman’s Oracle. It is Wisdom and Guidance from the Ancestors. In this deck, it comes with fifty-two cards and it is laid out more of as a story that you have to find the energy or force behind. I really like this one and I felt very connected to my higher self while using the deck.

The second deck is the Sacred Vision Oracle Cards. I found this deck to be unique. It is 29 cards with guidance on how to live your most true life and how to be powerful within yourself and follow your dreams. The artwork is stunning and is inspired by Native American culture.

Books

Lastly, I bought two reference books that I really recommend to anyone who is starting their spiritual path. I purchased Llewellyn’s Little Book of Chakras by Cyndi Dale and Llewellyn’s Little Book of Dreams. I won’t lie, I went back to pick up the dream book today after I bought the chakra book because I knew there was only one copy left and I wanted it so badly. These books are a standard overview of chakras and then of course, dreams! I really loved the way the books were broken down and easy enough for a novice to comprehend. I know quite a bit about chakras, but it is always interesting to read other people’s interpretations or read their guidance. I bought the dream book, because I am trying to work on dream work and more lucid dreaming. I’ve been a lucid dreamer since I was a child but I rarely put much thought into it and I’d like to try to pursue it and read the messages given to me within each dream.

So, yeah! I think if you have a metaphysical shop and you are even slightly interested in spirituality you should go take a look. These are just a few things they sell in spiritual shops! They also always have great energy in them!

If you have any questions, please feel free to write them in the comments and I will gladly answer them.

Have a lovely Sunday and I hope we can vibe again soon,

Julie.

Reorganizing Your Disorganized Life: A Guide

organization July 9, 2018

Hello, my loves!

Image result for free stock planner

I thought I’d talk about something I think that happens to all of us: disorganization. I honestly feel like I am one of the most organized people I know but at the same time, when in a state of depression or anxious worrying I can become an organizational disaster. I thought I’d do a simple guide to re-balancing your life when times like this happen.

  1. Clean your space. This is a very simple step which can definitely lead to a better state of mind. When we have papers all over our desks, or clothes piling up on the closet floor, it can be a trigger for us to want to throw up our arms and push it aside. However, the best thing we can possible do is tackle it straight on and make room for more important things in our head. When we are surrounded by clutter we often focus on it more than the tasks we have at hand and it can truly become a problem.
  2. Write things down. Making a list, or simply opening a journal and writing can help organize your thoughts and express your feelings. There is a lot of energy we invest on thinking about things and it can be exhausting, so try to get rid of any negative thoughts or even details you just don’t need to be ruminating about.
  3. Start a new planning system. I personally enjoy planning on paper. However, sometimes if that isn’t working you may want to try a digital option or vice versa. I really like bullet journaling, but it doesn’t seem to get done when time is not available. However, I noticed using a standard day planner is the best option for me. Even buying a new planner can work for motivation, and I think right now is the best time of year for this because planner companies often release a mid-year planner. Try whatever you need to, and refocus! You know yourself best, so follow what you feel you need atthis time.
  4. Reward yourself and have fun.  Life is difficult and there is no point in denying it isn’t going to get easier. There are many obligations we have and there are many things we have to do that we don’t want to but that doesn’t mean you can’t reward yourself and have fun too. When we spend too much time working and we ignore the desire for adventure or an escape, it can get to us. Try scheduling social times at least twice a week or more depending on your schedule. Make the weekends a no work time! You deserve to have that ice cream sundae, and you definitely should treat yourself to a face mask after a long day. Don’t let life get too stale or you will soon find yourself unmotivated.
  5. Establish a routine. I have noticed that when I am in a routine, I can easily make decisions and establish daily goals. However, when things are chaotic it is so much m ore difficult to get through the day. Even if it is a morning routine, or an evening routine, there should be some sense of knowing what you can expect at certain times and plan your work accordingly. Try to wake up around the same time, go to sleep around the same as well. It doesn’t matter if your routines are elaborate but try to make them positive, so you can look forward to grounding yourself at these times.

I hope these simple tips helped with anyone who is also struggling with staying organized or perhaps just needs to feel a little more balanced in your life. We all go through moments in life where it is difficult to stay focused, and it’s okay! Just remember that you are a wonderful, thoughtful, beautiful person who doesn’t need to be “on” all the time. Good vibes only!

Until Next Time,

Julie

Simple Summer Skin Care Routine

skincare July 5, 2018

Hello, my loves!

img_5683

I have been really into embracing summer this year. Sometimes the heat gets to me but I am still trying to get outside as much as possible. With being outside in the humid or dry weather it can make skin dehydrated. I have a simple and affordable skincare routine that I’d like to share with you today!

Makeup Removal: Coconut Oil is my savior when it comes to removing makeup in the summer. It is an oil, so it breaks down makeup instantly and also leaves the skin quenched and is also antibacterial which helps with fighting acne. I really like to deeply work this oil into a massage and wipe off with a dry wash cloth.

Cleansing: I like to use a gentle face wash like Cetaphil, to remove any remaining traces of makeup as well as clean my face. After a long day there is a lot of build up and dirt that needs to still be removed and a simple, gentle cleanser is perfect for this.

Toner: I like to use Thayer’s Witch Hazel and Rose Petal Toner.  I simply add it to a cotton ball and rub in circular motions around my face to remove any remaining dirt and to balance the skin’s pH. Toning can also clear up any acne that you have on your face or body, so it is a great step to add to a skincare routine when you are sweating a lot during the day.

Serum: Sometimes I will use a serum, depending on how my skin looks. If it needs some brightening or moisture, I will typically use the Glow serum by Valjean Labs. I found this serum at TJ Maxx and it is made with Vitamin C and Magnesium to even out skin tone and balance skin.

Moisturizer: I am currently using  Rosen Apothecary Collagen Firming Beauty Cream as a moisturizer. I found this at TJ Maxx and it is a nice, thick, easily absorbed cream which provides overnight moisture as well  as some firming properties if used consistently. It’s a nice product to use during the summer because it is super hydrating since it is made with many different beneficial oils like rose hip oil and argan oil.

So, for the most part that is my summer skincare routine. I also use masks from time to time but I feel like saving that for another post. Skincare for me equals self-care, and it is important to take care of our body, mind, and spirit.

Until Next Time,

Julie
