My New Morning Routine

Hello, my loves!

Untitled.pngI know I have been missing posts this week, but I wanted to write about this specific topic because it may be able to help those struggling with their morning routines or life stress in general.

I am going to be talking about my new morning routine in this blog post, and the reasons this routine is so helpful.

The first part of my morning routine is waking up. I used to wake up with an alarm and it would actually make me sleep longer. Since most mornings I actually don’t have a commitment, I decided to try to wake up naturally. My body seems now to wake up around 730 AM, which is when I initially set my alarm anyway. I don’t feel so panicked now and worried that I will miss my alarm (because that was quite an issue). I know this isn’t an option for everyone but even setting an alarm and giving yourself enough time to wake up is an option.

After I am awake, I pet my dog, and open the curtains and make my bed. These are two things I do immediately because it helps let sunlight in and I feel like I’m getting things accomplished right away. I then have been using a citrus essential oil to help with any bad moods I may be in when I wake up, and I basically just breathe in the aroma and it works right away.

Next, I will grab my journal and start writing my morning pages. Morning pages are the most influential part of my new morning routine. I do not know why I did not try this sooner. It is basically just writing out three whole pages worth of thoughts on paper. I like this because I start off really negative usually but by the end of the process I am a lot more positive and my outlook has been changed by the time I am finished. I highly recommend this one step to add to your morning routine or even your evening routine.

I can become quite restrictive with my diet, but I decided I want to treat myself each morning to the option of coffee with [vegan] creamer. Coffee is just a nice way to start your day and wake up a little from the caffeine. While I’m making that, I usually pick up my phone now and start running through e-mails and social media or text messages. I’m really trying to break away from being on social media as much but it’s difficult to ignore sometimes. I’ll either eat breakfast now or when I’m done working out.

This is when I’ll go over my to-do list and see what needs to be done during the day. I am so lucky I have the flexibility of my day but I also need to get a lot of things done while at home. Lately, I’ll try to get a thirty-minute workout in on my treadmill or elliptical or even just deep stretching or yoga.

Once this period is over, I will wash up (I shower at night), and apply my skincare and makeup and then I’m ready for the day. Honestly, I feel so much better adding less social media and more self-care/work. The morning pages have brought me more satisfaction than I can express. I also have been journaling during the day more, if something comes up and is bothersome. Instead of getting upset or unmotivated I simply write down what is going on and work my way through it on paper.

I hope this has inspired you to look at your own morning routine and how you spend your time! I am aiming for another post or two this week – I am just dealing with a lot of random things in my personal life which are taking up a bit of time that I did not expect! Tomorrow is Friday which means the weekend is almost here! Hurray! Enjoy the rest of your day and until next time, much love and happiness and harmony!

#GirlBoss Morning Routine Habits

 Girlboss-Wallpaper-April-music-me.de_-730x480

Hi, my loves!

I am fully enthralled with the trend of girl bosses and hope it remains a trend until the end of time. We all come from different backgrounds and girl boss may mean many different things to different people but it, in the end, is a statement of power and knowing you can handle anything or any obstacle that comes to life. I am going to go over a few (basic) routine habits you can add to your current morning schedule that will bring health, happiness, and clarity to your day which in turn will allow you to focus on being a #GirlBoss.

  1. Start every day hydrated. Drink water, hydrate your body and don’t reach for the coffee right away. Studies show that drinking coffee on an empty stomach can make you more jittery, so take time to make a healthy breakfast, drink your water, and then grab a coffee.
  2. Yoga. Yoga is an excellent way to start your day because it will not only relax you but it will give you a light stretch of your muscles which will release any tension or strain from sleeping. This time can also be used to bring clarity to your mind and you can set an intention for the upcoming day.
  3. Look at your schedule/To-Do List. Take a few moments to look at your To-Do List and prioritize your day, make sure you do not overschedule yourself but do enough where you feel accomplished. If you have work or school that day, try to find time to schedule a leisure activity even if on a small scale because it will benefit you to have some downtime.
  4. Get ready and enjoy it. We often overlook this time of the day but it can be a calming ritual for us if we allow it. Putting on makeup or doing our hair, taking a shower, applying perfume, changing our clothes can be a time to reflect or even just watch inspiring Youtube videos and get into a positive mindset. If we see getting ready as a chore, it will be a chore and we won’t view it as a time to be alone and take care of ourselves.
  5. Tidy Up. This is something I feel should be done at all times but making your bed, putting away any clothes you chose not to wear or putting your products back should be a step you should add to your routine if you haven’t already. I love the feeling of coming home and not having to worry about a mess since I put items away as I am done with them.

These are just a few habits everyone should incorporate in their day no matter who they are because it will establish a base routine to add more positive habits.

Girl bosses and guy bosses know themselves, and they know themselves well. They encourage others like they encourage themselves. They are passionate and thoughtful and know how to make decisions. I truly admire all of the people out there who are able to work hard for what they want and have a fierce determination.

Have a lovely, positive evening!
