Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Pure Castile Soap Review

Hello, my loves! Happy Earth Day!

img_5089

Today is Earth Day and it is also review Sunday, so I thought it would be fitting to provide a review about an organic, vegan, and cruelty-free product that also uses recycled materials for the packaging.

Dr. Bronner’s is known for their liquid castile soap, which is a combination of various oils like organic coconut oil,  organic palm kernel oil, organic olive oil, organic hemp oil, organic jojoba oil, and essential oils, in combination with a minimal list of other ingredients.  Dr. Bronner’s is a company which also uses certified fair trade ingredients in their products.

The particular one I have been using is the lavender castile soap (retails for $3.99-$70.00 depending on quantity). I personally use this product as a body wash, as well as a shampoo and sometimes a facial wash. First of all, I really enjoy the subtle lavender scent that is not overpowering. The fragrance has a calming effect, especially when used before bed.

The key to this product is diluting it with water because it is easy to be overpowered by the oils or other components of the ingredients.

When I actually use the product, the results are wonderful. I use this as a clarifying shampoo because it makes my hair feel so clean. I typically will then go in with another shampoo to bring some moisture back because I do feel like this does make your hair a little dry on its own.

As a body wash, this does not really lather up like most. It provides a clean feeling, however, and leaves the skin feel soft. As a facial cleanser, this is a nice gentle one that does a nice job. I would personally use this in the morning to get any dirt off from sleep as opposed to a nightly cleanser where it needs to be more vigorous.

There are other ways you can use this product for, like washing dishes, doing laundry, washing your dog, or even shaving.

In my opinion, there is something to be said about a company that goes out of its way and makes it their mission to provide sustainable products that can be used in ways many traditional products cannot. I hope we can all do our part in the future to become more eco-friendly and less harmful to the environment. I know it is difficult but even making small steps like purchasing from companies such as Dr. Bronner’s it will help more than you know.

I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants a versatile soap that will be effective and leave you squeaky clean!

If you’ve tried any of Dr. Bronner’s products, let me know how you feel about them in the comments or if you have any other eco-friendly brands we should know about!

Love always,

Julie

Bliss “In The Honey’ Mask Review

Hello, dears!

img_4871

I recently picked up a new mask from Target and I thought I’d do a review on it since it is a newer release to Target and I want you to be able to make an informed decision before purchasing. The mask is the “in the honey” mask by Bliss.

The “in the honey” mask retails for $16 USD for 50ML or 1.7 fl oz. It is available at Target, Ulta, and online at Blissworld.com. So, the initial reason I purchased this mask was that of the name and knowing that there was going to be honey in it. I personally love honey when it comes to skincare because it is so moisturizing and anti-inflammatory. This mask is supposed to be a moisturizing mask as opposed to a pore cleansing or purifying mask.

img_4870

The mask is a thick, but not sticky, honey-colored almost gel formula. It smells just like it is described as a honey-lavender mask. The active ingredients in this mask are as follows:

  • Acacia Honey: Rich in natural sugars, it draws moisture to skin to create a hydrating veil while antioxidants protect against oxidative and environmental damage.
  • Honey Extract: Boosts moisture and radiance in depleted skin.
  • Propolis Extract: Also called “bee glue,” as in the hive, it is used to seal and protect the hive and its chambers that house baby bees; used since ancient times to balance, heal and soothe skin.
  • Squalane: Plant sugar-derived moisturizer balances skin by improving water reserves and limiting moisture loss.
  • Cocoa Seed Extract: Contains high levels of antioxidants to help protect from damage while soothing skin for an improved complexion.
  • Lavender Oil: Known for its antioxidant and skin-calming properties.

To use, you simply apply a layer of product and wait about 10-15 minutes before washing off, and follow with pat drying.

The results of this mask, for me, were wonderful.  I truly could see a visible difference in the redness of my face (which I assume is from the lavender) and the moisture that was left behind was so good that I woke up the next morning with subtle, nourished skin.

I think this product is well worth the money and I can see myself getting a number of applications out of this product. I believe any skin type could use this mask without irritation or complications. I did not break out from this mask and that’s another bonus for me!

Overall, I give this product the thumbs up in my book. I will definitely be looking at buying more Bliss products in the future and you should let me know in the comments if you have tried this mask or any other Bliss products!

Until Next,

Julie

Side Hustles: A Petite Guide

Hello, lovelies!

jmk.png

Today’s topic is side hustles. I thought it is a topic that anyone can utilize information from. I personally have a few side hustles and I make a decent amount of money doing work on them. So, let’s start!

First, you need to narrow down your interests and what you are actually capable of doing and have enough time for. Do you like fashion? Do you like selling inventory? Do you enjoy writing? Do you have 30 minutes a week to dedicate or 10 hours a week?

Once you find out what you want to do, start searching online. These are just some ideas of side hustles you can get into:

  1. Sell Your Closet. I  spent about two hours maximum working on posting items on PoshMark and made over $100. I did the same on eBay. All you need is description writing skills and time to respond to e-mails. You can schedule package pickup from USPS and you’ve made money without leaving your house or having to invest in any programs.
  2. Freelance Write. This is a perfect position for those who want to set their own schedule or only pick up a few jobs here and there. You will be contracted to write the thread or perhaps even write articles for magazines like Cosmo or Country Living. The possibilities are endless for freelance writing. I am not saying it isn’t going to take time but it is mostly in your hands how much you want to spend on the project.
  3. Etsy. You can be creative and work on your craft while making money. I personally don’t have a ton of experience with selling on Etsy but it is profitable for those who have a strong creative drive. I highly recommend this for the entrepreneurs out there!
  4. Blog. You can monetize a blog as long as you have the time to put into high-quality content. There’s no end to how much income you could add to your life when you run your own blog/website.
  5. Sell essential oils. This is something that is perfect for those who want a little extra income each month and who enjoy marketing a holistic lifestyle. DoTerra and Young Living are two I immediately think of!  This can also be done with other companies like Avon, Mary Kay, etc.
  6. Write Reviews! You can sign up to be sent things from beauty products to books, to wellness tools and be paid to write reviews or sent free products. Try the website Tomoson, it’s perfect for small bloggers/Instagram accounts/twitter accounts. You can also try joining a book review site called onlinebookclub.org. I just joined and got a free book on my first day of joining!

With side hustles, it is all a matter of using your talents and having fun. Side hustling adds a bonus income and you do not want to spend your time doing something you hate on top of your fulltime job. There are many more jobs I didn’t mention and you can take a look at the internet and discover what is right for you.

Good luck, leave me a comment if you have anything you want to ask or share!

Sunday Review: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Hello my loves,

Today I thought I’d start a new series on my blog called Sunday Review where I do an in-depth product review. I really do enjoy doing these types of reviews because it lets me give you a solid opinion rather than just a few words here or there about the product. So, here we go!

cerave.png

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream:

This product retails for around twelve US dollars and can be found in almost any drugstore or online. The product comes with 12 OZ of product, which is quite a lot of product in my opinion for the price. The claim of this product is that it has 3 essential ceramides, which are lipids and oils that replenish your moisture barrier on your skin. There is no fragrance in this product and there is hyaluronic acid to help skin’s natural moisture.

I’m going to say right off the bat, I love this product. The first night I used it, I woke up and my skin looked hydrated and plump as well as seemed to have little redness in it and I usually have quite a bit. I have combination skin, but it tends to be dry lately so waking up with any sort of moisture is amazing! The consistency is nice and thick but it quickly absorbs into the skin and you don’t have to spend time rubbing it in. Since it is made with the ceramides, I personally like to massage the product into my face to make sure it is completely absorbed and working effectively.

There is little fragrance in this product other than the typical lotion smell which is found in almost every product. There is so much product in this container that you could use this as a body cream as well if you felt like it. I feel like because it is so thick, you do not need much of the product and therefore it could be used elsewhere other than the face. due to the fact that this is a jar container, you will want to make sure your hands are nice and clean before dipping into the product or use a small spatula.

Overall, with the intensity of moisture provided and the fact that it does as it says it will do, I can say I recommend this product. It’s easily accessible, inexpensive, and provides all-day hydration so what more could you ask for? I will continue to use this product and I want to know if any of you have used this product or are willing to give it a try! ❤

5/5 for the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.

Until Next Time,

Julie.

Budget Friendly Shopping Ideas

Hello, my dears!

We have all been there when the budget we have is low, and we are bored but want to shop. I have been there quite a few times and I thought I’d share a few things you could do when your budget doesn’t allow some of the other plans you hoped for.

  1. Thrift Shop. So, some people have reservations about thrifting but I believe it can be one of the most fun and economically friendly past times. There’s plenty of items you can purchase at the thrift store besides clothes. I like to look at the vintage teacups or even the paper supplies. There’s plenty of clothes or items for your home like furniture or decorations. Basically, you can go here and spend less than twenty dollars and go home happy so it’s definitely a budget-friendly option.
  2. Second Hand Book Store. This is similar to the thrift shopping but there are gobs and gobs of books! I love to learn and read but sometimes books can get expensive so I love going to second-hand bookstores and spending a long time looking for something that will keep me entertained for hours.
  3. Dollar Tree. Honestly, the dollar tree is great for anyone who wants to do art projects or decorate their home for the season. You can get anything from candles to mirrors, to decorative ornaments. They have a pretty well-stocked paper supply section and always have tons of stickers! Also, their candy aisle is always a treat!
  4. Tj-Maxx. Tj-Maxx has recently become one of my favorite stores, especially for skin care items. They have a wonderful selection of high-end products which you can pay a fraction of the price for. They also have clothes, home goods, even tea, and snacks!

I thought it would be fun to write this post because I know I am always looking for a deal or to pay less for quality items. If you have any other ideas for budget-friendly shopping leave them in a comment below! ❤
