Soap & Glory – Clean On Me – Scrub Of Your Life – Review

Hello, my darlings,

I have been using Soap and Glory products since I saw the products at Target about a year or so ago. I feel like I have tested so many of their products since then and I have loved (almost) all of them. Today, I’m going to be touching on two products which I have been using over the last month or so and have come to a conclusion about how I feel about them.

Okay, so the first product I’ll be talking about is Clean On Me, which is a body wash which has the consistency of a lotion. The first thing I noticed was this body wash comes with a ton of product. It contains 16.2 FL OZ which for the price (around $12) is a wonderful deal in my opinion. The bottle suggests that you turn off the shower before use so it doesn’t go straight down the drain but I simply put this on a loofa or washcloth and it lathers up quite nicely and you do not need much product to make it lather. The smell of this product is their famous “pink” smell, which to me is very hard to describe, it’s almost like a cologne yet it is feminine and floral. One thing I love about Soap & Glory products is the fact that you can smell the fragrance on your body long after you have showered and it holds true with this shower gel as well. I feel like this product also, because of it being a lotion consistency, does provide extra moisture to the skin and that is one of the claims on the bottle. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a new body wash, and I will repurchase.

For The Scrub Of Your Life, I feel like I have finally found the perfect exfoliator and I am not just saying this because I love Soap and Glory. The scrub of your life is not a deep exfoliator, it is more of an everyday type of product you can use in the shower in your routine. This scrub is more of a combination of a scrub and a body wash. The Scrub of Your Life has soft beads in it that lather up with the gel and provide a light textured gradient against the skin that actually helps with dry skin and even (I believe) has helped (in combination with other products) with my stretch marks. I love this, and I am glad I have found something I can use every day that also doesn’t need too much product to work and it comes with 6.7 FL OZ so it’s quite a bit! The smell is almost identical to the Clean On Me and I like pairing the two together to keep the scent going — and spraying some of their “Pink” body spray.  I will most definitely repurchase this.

Walgreens carries Soap and Glory now and almost always has their products on buy two get one free so if you are looking for a good deal, you can always go there to purchase.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried any Soap and Glory products and if so, what your favorites are! I’m always looking for new ones.

If you are interested, I can do a “What I keep in my shower” post, or even a video maybe? ❤

Hope you’re all having a great day,

E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Line; Review

I took a trip to Target to see if they had the E.L.F. new active line but they, unfortunately, did not have it available at my store. Instead, I purchased a few products from the Beautifully Bare line. I picked up five items which I thought would create a simple and wearable look. This line, to me, is meant to be used on the “no-makeup-makeup” days. I just talked about that in one of my posts, so scroll down a bit and you will find that. I really appreciate E.L.F. trying to remind us we don’t need to apply so much makeup that we are unrecognizable and it’s okay to just enhance our natural beauty.

First, I applied the Foundation Serum in the shade “Fair/Light” which was a wonderful match for my skin tone and this was definitely more of a serum foundation than anything because the consistency was very thin and had more of a watery consistency. As far as coverage goes, I’d say it was medium coverage which for me is perfect on a day where I’m not wearing much makeup, seeing as my skin has hyperpigmentation. I really enjoyed this foundation and I feel like it will last me a long time because of the amount of coverage you get for very little product, and I applied this using a buffing brush. The result of this is a beautiful, natural looking finish and I really enjoyed it. 5/5 for me.

After that, I applied the Lightweight Concealer in”Light/Medium”, which was definitely the wrong shade for me. This shade was a low more yellow-toned than the foundation and simply did not mix very well with my base of the foundation. The texture is definitely creamy but provides more of a matte coverage in my opinion than a dewy one, which means you have to work quite quickly with the concealer to make sure it is blended in properly. As far as application, I honestly recommend your finger or a damp beauty sponge to bring back a little of the creaminess after applied. It was hard to rate this but overall, I’d give it a 4/5 mostly due to the fact that it was the wrong shade for me and because it dried down quite quickly and matte.

Next, it wasn’t a necessary step I suppose but I wanted to test out the Sheer Tint Finishing Powder in “Fair/Light”. This was a huge pan of powder, and I definitely did not need very much of this to achieve matte skin. I honestly like dewier or natural skin but sometimes a powder is a must especially for long wear makeup days. This powder does exactly what it says it will though because it seemed to minimize my pores and provide light coverage. I think this powder would look nice on bare skin as well as over foundation on a day you just want something on your face that will control oil and give you a bit of color. 5/5.

Onto blush, I used the Blush in Rose Royalty. I absolutely adored this product, to be quite honest with you. I think it is a perfectly pigmented, soft, creamy blush which every girl should own. I am one of those people that blush just doesn’t seem to show up on but it is my favorite beauty item, but this blush absolutely showed up and it looked like I was blushing naturally. I always wish I was one of those girls who looked like she was out in the English countryside, walking her dog on a chilly morning who came home with a rosy flush and this is exactly what look this blush can give you. My suggestion is to apply with your fingers and make it as natural looking as possible. 5/5+5(hehe).

Lastly, I picked up the Liptint in Sheer Berry. I’m not going to lie, I had no idea how to take the cap off but when I did, I was pleasantly surprised with the applicator. It was one of the squeeze-tip applicators they use on the First Aid Beauty lip treatment. This color is gorgeous, it is so natural and basically a “my-lips-but-better” shade. I really enjoyed that this stained my lips the color it was applied as well as moisturized my lips so they don’t feel dry when it does dry down. 5/5

Overall, this is a great line in my opinion. The products are of such high quality and do not cost much at all, everything in this line is $8 or less. If you are interested in shopping for E.L.F. I have an affiliate link on my page, and I truly do stand by their products and have for years.

Have a wonderful evening my dears,

DIY: At Home Skincare

You don’t know this about me but I almost started my own Etsy shop for skincare. I honestly took a good month out of my life and dedicated some time to producing products which were not only useful but also sustainable. Unfortunately, it was a lot more difficult than I anticipated and I had to stop my venture in starting a natural skincare shop on my own, but I learned a lot about skincare in that short period of time and I wanted to share a few DIY products you can make at home.

So, first off – exfoliating is an amazing thing and the right exfoliator can truly make your skin feel fresh and soft in a matter of minutes. My favorite exfoliator is two ingredients:

  1. Sea Salt
  2. Olive Oil

This is the perfect combination to provide smooth, silky skin.

A toner is another excellent way to remove impurities and balance skin. I found that mixing two simple ingredients made the best toner I’ve ever used!

  1. Witch Hazel
  2. Tea Tree Oil
  3. Essential Oil Of Your Choice [for topical use, optional]

This product made my skin feel so clean and refreshed, and I urge you to try it. You could also put this in a spray bottle and use it as a setting spray.

For a mask, you really want something hydrating as well as something that will depuff and I found one that truly does both of those things, and this one only has three lovely, natural ingredients.

  1. Raw Honey
  2. Olive Oil
  3. Coffee Grounds

Honestly, this mask made my skin feel lovely and works well for any type of skin.

These three are wonderful and natural DIYs with ingredients you most likely already have.

I do not have exact measurements for these recipes because at the time I was using them I was simply experimenting and did not determine specific amounts needed. What I can suggest is putting even amounts of each product in, and that should do the trick!

I really hope you try these out and if you want more recipes that worked for me, leave me a comment because I actually have many others I can share as well!

My current cruelty-free beauty/haircare products [drugstore and highend]

Hello, darlings –

I would love to say that I use all cruelty-free beauty products but with the selection of products being so slim I cannot say I completely use cruelty-free products, however, I am working towards it and I also would encourage you to do the same!

So, my first and foremost favorite brand is wet n wild, which is a drugstore brand that has many cruelty-free and some vegan options. My favorite product from them is definitely their photo focus foundation ($6). It is a great choice if you are looking for a new foundation that will last all day. I also really like their liquid lipsticks which are the catsuit liquid lipsticks ($4.99), my favorite shade right now is coral corruption! They also have amazing bronzers which could literally last you a year ($3.99).

Another amazing brand from the drugstore which is cruelty-free is ELF. ELF has an inexpensive range of high-quality products and I absolutely adore them! Their matte lip pencils come in a variety of colors and will dry down to a perfect stain ($3). I love their foundation for acne-prone skin which is such a high coverage foundation and is so well priced ($6)! I could go on and on about their blush and bronzer palettes and many other items  – even their mascara! This is most definitely a brand you will want to seek out next time you are at Target or shopping online.

Other brands I like from the drugstore are NYX and Physician’s formula! Nyx lip products are amazing and Physician’s formula bronzers and highlighters are very nice as well!

As far as high-end brands go, Tarte is my all time favorite high-end brand that is also cruelty-free. I have gone through many products of theirs, but my all time favorite is definitely their amazonian clay blushes ($29). These blushes last all day and are so soft and pigmented, and come in beautiful colors to compliment every skin tone. Tarte’s eyeshadows are also one of my favorite formulas, they are not cakey or powdery and give off similar pigmentation to the blushes. My favorite palette is the In Bloom palette ($46).

Another high-end brand that at least claims to be cruelty-free is Too Faced cosmetics. Their cute packaging is always something that I love and of course, their products are also just as high quality as their packaging. My favorite all time product of theirs is the Better than sex mascara ($20). If I had to choose one mascara to use for the rest of time it would be that mascara. I also really like their eyeshadow palettes as well, they have creamy, soft eyeshadows which are also nicely pigmented. My favorite palette from them is the original chocolate bar palette ($49), the palette is so versatile and can create almost any look. I also recently purchased the unicorn tears lipstick($22) and I won’t lie, it’s fabulous!

Obviously, I also love Urban Decay and Kat Von D.

As far as hair care products go, I’ve recently been using a few Pureology products which are cruelty-free and vegan but rather on the pricey side. Moroccan oil is also a brand favorite of mine which is cruelty-free but also very expensive. I wish more drugstore brands for haircare were cruelty-free but I haven’t run into many yet.

I hope this gives you some shopping inspiration or even just a “hmmm…” moment about whether your products are not tested on animals. Please feel free to comment on your favorite c/f products! I am so interested in hearing them!

My Very Simple Skincare Routine For Fall

Hello, my dears! So today I thought I’d go over my very basic skincare routine which typically allows me to control my acne, and stay moisturized!

To start off, I wear makeup. I wear a lot of makeup on a day to day basis because of previous acne scarring I have dealt with throughout the years and I generally just love makeup. My acne is not typically a problem these days due to my routine but sometimes I still struggle due to my time of the month, and also due to being on the medication lithium which dries out the skin and is known to cause acne or skin conditions.

So now that I’ve prefaced that, I would like to get into my skincare routine. For a long time, I used a lot of products and many chemical ridden products which actually made me break out even more. These days I use mild, more natural products which I know work.

To take off my makeup I actually use grapeseed oil with a washcloth. Grapeseed oil is basically the oil from the seed of grapes, so it’s very natural. It is typically used for cooking but it takes makeup off without irritating my eyes or skin. It leaves skin soft and hydrated as well. I highly recommend this for stubborn eye makeup or those days when you wear concealer or a high coverage foundation. I would say grapeseed oil takes off 85% of my makeup alone.

The next thing I do is wash my face. For washing my face I use Dr. Bronner’s Castile Almond soap. It’s a soap which is natural and full of healthy ingredients you can use for many purposes. Here are a list of ingredients: Water, Organic Coconut Oil*, Potassium Hydroxide**, Organic Palm Kernel Oil*, Organic Olive Oil*, Organic Hemp Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Natural Almond Fragrance, Citric Acid, Tocopherol. These are many of the oils I would use on their own, so it is great to have them combined!

After washing my face, I use a toner on a cotton round. I’ve been using a witch hazel toner, sometimes it is just the pure witch hazel, sometimes witch hazel with rose water. Sometimes I just use rose water as well. I think toning is an essential skincare step because it allows you to see if any dirt is left over after cleansing, it also aids in balancing your skin.

So, on a regular basis, I will just apply a moisturizer. So, either I’ll apply almond oil for a moisturizer and give myself a massage or I will apply PONDS deep moisturizing cream for dry skin. The reason I chose PONDS is that it is one of the brands that have been around for so long that I trust it will not break me out, and it hasn’t.

If I’m having a particularly bad skin day or I want to relax and enjoy a face mask I will apply one of the Freeman masks, or sometimes the Aztec Clay mask. I also really enjoy using raw honey as a facemask for moisture.

I also do exfoliate with a little olive oil and sea salt. I’ve found that sea salt and olive oil will scrub the dead skin off but leave your skin so moisturized that it is literally like heaven! It also works on hands and on the body.

Every day I try to dry brush and moisturize with Palmer’s Coconut Oil cream.

Try to keep your hands clean, and off your face. Also, try to use new hand towels every day and don’t ever use them to pat dry your face, use a washcloth instead.

Hope this helped or was at least fun to read!

Have a good night!
